This guy's phone number is not even valid. I just called to flame him/them/whoever like an animal. I don't know if in the USA the number is valid, but here in Canada is does not work... Maybe it's a good thing after all, I might have gotten into trouble with the things I felt like saying ;-)

Can the internet be shut down?

Lets first learn how the internet works here

Now that we know a bit more we can say that they can surely cut off some major roads and create major disruptions by shuting down key relay points.

But you answer is NO, they can't shut it down.

Because if I remember correctly, this is what it was all about...

  8. The Cringley Article makes no sense on Earthlink Refuses To Install Carnivore · · Score: 1

This guy is an idiot and his theory don't make sense. Why? well if the FBI shut down the internet, how will the USA be sure that all the nuclear missile launch facilities will get the signal to destroy the other side in case of attack? This would be to much of a treat to national security (ie. not being sure to be able to anhiliate the soviets or something). I tought this is what the internet was orriginaly designed for, that if the USA would get bomb, that when they would signal the launch of the counter-attack, if a link was down, the signals could be routed elsewhere, and the other side be destroyed too. Trust me, this guy is on crack or something!

  9. You are missing the point about the rating system on Soldier Of Fortune: Must Be 18 To Play · · Score: 1

The point that you are missing about a rating system is that it gives a good idea of whats inside the box (game, video, music, movies, etc) so that I, as a responsable adult, does not have to watch, listen, rent, buy every damn thing before I deceide whats good for my kids or not. When I see "g" I know I can safely bring it on my TV (and not watch it before I listen to it again with my kids) and that people wont get stabbed, killed, blown, etc.

This is not censorship either, they are not trying to prohibit the sale, if you want it, you go in the big guys section, if not, you can go rent Benji movies & games.

Soldier of fortune is an extremely violent game. I play it myself and like to kill dummies espacially with the riffle. But that does not mean that it should not be rated adult. Here in Canada, we dont have a 17 rating like in the usa, so it's 18.

  10. This does not surprise me at all on Just Say No To Reading About Drugs · · Score: 1

The only country where the percentage of new drugs addicts in the teenage population over time as significantly decreased is the Netherlands with their PRO-Information and PRO-Education programs. Every where else in the world, like in the USA, where the strategy as been prohibition, criminaliasation and exclusion from society it's been a loosing battle, with that critical group use skyrocketing.

For those of you who think you can use drugs anywhere in the Netherlands you are mistaken. You cannot do it outside on the street. But you surely can on a Cafe or at home. If you get cought on the street, you get a fine! ;-) and they confiscate it.

Everything they have tried so far as failed, now they think censorship is the cure. It's a doomed strategy fail from stupid people not understanding the problem. It's like telling people "If we stop talking about it, the problem will go away"

  11. Changing dates in windows is trivial on Microsoft Openly Provides Kerberos Interop Specs · · Score: 1

All one has to do to generate a date in a document (past or future) is to change the "Date & Time" from the taskbar to whatever they want, and then to create or modify the document. Voila! So I really don't know how you can actually trust any dates in a document.

They clearly state that site that have illegal software will be banned, but illegal mp3 is just fine. I think it shows their a bunch of hypocrites.

  15. Really bad Journalism from David Willis on Microsoft Enticed To Move To British Columbia · · Score: 1

I don't know how professional David Willis is but he should check the geo-political facts twice before writing something. I can tell you this storry is really badly reported and only smoke.

Here in Montreal, Quebec, we have build the multimedia city and have attracted many big players such as Ubisoft. The Quebec goverment is now investing 3-5 billions over the next few years in our e-commerce facilities to accomodate the new arrival of Nasdaq and hope to attract major players such as Microsoft, Dell and Compaq to name only a few.

This was a big blow to Toronto and Vancouver so I can understand they are now lobbying alot, but not because Microsoft is in trouble with DOJ.
