Firmware is just software. And board manufacturarers often have some fail safe flasing procedure. Not that this is useable to average users, they barely know what version of windows they are runnnig, let alone they can identify the version of the motherboard in the computer.
And most managers are doing some kind of stand up board nowadays. Put that graph from your bug tracking system up there, and it might get more attention.
Some of these bugs are old now, but are never removed. They either need to be removed, or removed from the bug tracker. Bugs that still are in the state of "it does not work" with enough detail. need to be removed.
O cannot see the difference between one root ceritifcate owned my symatic/verisign, and an othter. So they just went bad on one root, they just move their bad practice to an other root CA they own.
The real evil will not the data that is lost (probably none, since you run your station from a VDI somewhere in the enterprise cloud), the real evil is getting a 3-4 digit amount approved to spend.
All the innovations described in that paper are power Usage optimizations. Battery is still considered a source that has a number of energy units. For usage optimization that works. However, as more and more of a battery is understood, there are more parameters of a battery you can optimize: charging and storage behavior.
Just as a software defined datacenter still needs lots of hardware. This is the same definition of software defined. There is plenty hardware available, But instead as using it as"just hardware", or "just a battery" you optimize it as it is used.
e.g. A Li-ion battery has more wear and tear if it is stored at 100% charge. So you only top it off if you expect the user to unplug it soon. (e.g when charging the phone in the night, you to it off an hour before wakeup).
If there are multiple batteries, with different parameters you can optimize for those parameters. And this is a "free"optimization. You get a few percentage extra capacity in the long run, just by exposing the batteries to the OS.
But you should not expect big leaps from this. Batteries are used in portable devices, which are weight and space contrained. with other words: they will have minimal specification.
"added a lot of technology " but fails to mention what they added. Yup lenses. Expensive display. "sensors". Yes, and a lot of small parts add up quickly. If you need to add a high end pc as well, they better heve some steaming content!
If your new version has limited new visible functionality let users vote on a name of the most current release. Can you name the new feartures of android Marshmellow? If nom, you do know the name!
This behavior was known from a test some year s ago. VW did a voluntary callback for a software update. Now this cheat still happens. This is nothing that suddenly happened, this is that state regulator that has draw a line in the sand and said "till here and not futher". Do you think that if some engineer explained that there was a software malfunction if it was strapped in testing? And that the people who took that call understood it was a "defeat device"
Did you see anyone trying to calculate how many deaths this has cost because of small particle dust?
In Europe we still use decades old tests to determine fuel usage (= co2 exhaust). It is known that cars behave different in such test than in real life. why? rules....
At least you need that source for the monitor, mouse, keyboard. Buying those new well set you back 70+10+10.... that is a big part of the budget you can save. And then you need something creative to give these kids internet....
The one reason that flash does not run on the iPhone is that a man with a black collar did not want all kind of flash games on his phone, he wanted to sell those games native from the app-store, and take a percentage on that.
But since flash is no longer a 99% cross platform solution people tend to look for solutions that are more cross platform.
(beside that, linux and android run old version that i doubt about security..)
Well, beside the sarah conner thing, military is already looking into buiding robots. It is a small step from unmanned drones, and the dream of military to have a war without casualties at your own site. The plans to forbid them will be too little, too late.
There are some mistakes. " CAs used to be meticulous about who they signed certs for.". what you say may be misunderstood., what signing is used for in most of the times. They sign that you are who you say you are. Not about who. you can get crooksincorperated.com, or mikerowsoft.com signed very simple if you own the corresponding domain. Even if it is signed you might not be able to find the owner of that site. The certificate only proves the data is not modified.
What went wrong here is that MCS got the certificate to create more certificates, and MCS did not protect that cert very well. You know what happened in egypt with internet? It got monitored to be very simple. Maybe with help of the MCS proxy device.
You are referring to loosing a sector on the platter. It also assumes a normal failure of drives. However modern drives do not always fail normal. They develop slow spots, timeouts from which they might recover.
Also the software to create the redundancy might fail, of it might fail if you do not update the firmware.
And I am not even talking about catastropic failure. When a drive overheats you might want to remove it from the datacenter.
I bet the technical chinese users are becoming real good in VPN and simular technologies. Please tell me, what are the methods that still work to cross the great chinese firewall.? Any good blogs where this is discussed?
You are not wrong, but the point is that parralel system can scale the number of cpu's ftom 4 to 1000. However the same locking mechanisms used for 4 way parralelism are not useful in 1000 way parralelism. You need different techniques then. The linus rant is pointeda current programming techniquess that scale to 4-16 cores, but start to loose a lot of efficientcy at more cores.
By the way, some synamic pipeway already exists a long time. Think about hyperthreading. 2 threads share1 core. second thread is optional to keep the cpu busy when one thread could not. Also cache might be local to one or more cores. This is also a way of dynamic pipeline.
Great tool to use the same note on different (browsers/app) platforms.
This will never be a killer application, just nice to have.

Ban all verisign(=symatic) CA issued from now on!
The secret to a long life is, no smoking, no sex, no flesh, no alcohol, no fast cars, no adventurous travel, no masturbation, pray and no tv.
It might not prolong your life, but it sure will fell like an eternity.

Oh? Tell me: what OS exposes storage (e.g. discharge when stored) to the user/applications? Can you see the actual charge current in your OS?

from this git entry I would suspect meta data parsing errors.
so in /system/boot.prop (root required)
media.stagefright.enable-meta=false
media.stagefright.enable-scan=false
However, one cannot be sure about this.

Add:
USB power: same for pi and chip
usb hub, because you want to connect with keyboard and mouse (bluetooth mouse & keyboard are way more expense)
at the pi side: add a wifi module.
mmpeg2 license (because ??)
and the pi2 has way more processing power that this thing has.
Mandatory Xkcd reference The problem with average ratings.
It might be a good product, but don't forget one of the strengths of git is that a lot of people are familiar with it and its uses.
Other product might be good, but the learning curve might make it that people choose familiar over best tool for the job.
