  1. What is wrong with you people? on Mandrake 7.0-Beta Ready for Download · · Score: 1

This was funny, I mean come on, four people died, who cares. More people probably died while I was writing this post; 6 billion people on this planet and you people get all worked up about four people dying. I dont know but I thought it was funny, went along perfectly and the guy was just trying to throw a stick in to the java/C debate. Anyway, it's just sad to see everyone get all worked up over four people dying, there are many more tragedies out there.

  4. Socialism (Communism)... on Linux to be Official OS of People's Republic of China · · Score: 2

Linux is the biggest socialistic effort ever. Love it or hate it, that's the way it is. Even if not one person in china uses linux they have gotten their point across. It is a model for the people but not necessarily the way the country operates. They don't consider themselves communists but socialists, same as the ussr was. Communist countries pull these publicity stunts all the time because they can say, "hey, look at us, we are doing the right thing." Instead, they are doing the exact opposite (As far as most people are concerned, I try to be somewhat tolerant). Ah, the ironies of communism...

An optimized compiler for one. Anyone working with linux on an alpha knows the performance of gcc is sub-par. If you want any real speed out of the alpha, it really helps to have digital and ccc. Linux on alpha is good, it just has a ways to go before it can catch up to the performance of digital. Try some tests on the digital machines vs the linux machines with compaqs testdrive. Im not sure if gcc is symlinked to ccc on the linux box though, you might want to check because ccc is definatly going to produce faster code than gcc but digital will still pull out ahead. Make sure to take note of the load though. Sure there are downsides to it but digital is about performance on the alpha first and formost. As for the unsupported part of your argument, whats linux?

I bought my last box from them and while a little on the expensive side, they used the absolute best parts and when my power supply died there was another one waiting for me in the morning without a hassle. Think about it though, half the linux sites seem to have some connection to VA. Any other thoughts on them. I mean maybe it is a little PR but I dont even care.

I think it got strategy game of the year for strategy games+ magazine (something like that). Anyway, if you are even remotly interested in railroads and strategy games it will not dissapoint you. Up close it looks like a model trainset, the graphics are just incredible. I heard they used model rr buildings to model the buildings in the game after. It was done to make things cheaper but things turned out even better. Anyway, just a very good progression on the original and if any game is a representation of a "good" game, this is it.

The 21st century is going to be a scary place. It is very uncertain which way we are going. I'm not worried so much for myself but for everyone else. Where are all the massive jobs going to come from. Think about it, the more we innovate the more workers we are replacing. That's what it's all about. When do we hit the point of no one working anymore and what happens there. Are we supported by what we have created and please ourselves all day or do the few in power not care and push the rest of us into some sort of 3rd world state. You will start to see a lot more products using 2.4ghz, 1) because of the the number of open frequencies and 2) because of the range.
