So... by you way of thinking open source operating system is bad because you can modify the source to your liking? Well open source has made linux stronger and more stable than windows. So I think they will have a rough start but I hope the best of luck with them.
This is so great now we can help with the games and show that we dont need propiertary games anymore but the only downer is that some of thos propiertary games are fun to play. Best of luck to them.
But doesnt Linux support more arch's than bsd cause it only sounds like bsd supports i386 and alpha's. Now linux on the other hand supports lots more plus the GPL is alot better than the BSD license in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.
All Windows has proved is that it is unstable buggy and expensive while Linux has proved to be stable free and open source! Bill can suck this one down
First of all mp3's are patented and people are going to have to pay royalities to the company that made the algorithm so I say dont make an secure closed source audio format support and develop the open source free from patents and royalities the ogg format (and hey it sounds great too what more could you ask for?)
This guy was the leader of corels effort for linux push. Im sad I was looking forward to buying software from corel. I wonder know how is it going to do with out the leader worse or better? Only time will tell.
First of all Q3 isnt every linux game out there also most of the games that loki has put out most people have bought for win so why buy the same game again? I would pay for a patch that allowed me to play my win game in linux but not another 40 bucks for a game I already have. Get loki to get a game out at the same time as the win version and then would you see a gain in sales.
First of all its Red Hats prob not "linux" security problem. Different distros have thier security fixes. Debian and Slack being the most secure. Red Hat is known for its security holes and its the damn red hat = linux thing that bothers the hell out of me. Have the SOB review different distros and take the wad of cash from Microsoft out of his pocket and then review the bugtrack thingy again.
We use linux and other opensource os's to get away from windows, i wouldnt even use the open source windows cause its windows even if it is an open source clone.
One linux isnt like windows at all it doesnt need 20 frecking million lines of code to just crash. The kernel is nice and tight, cleanly code and examined all the world over and tested all the world over in REAL WORLD situations this is something microsoft cant touch. And personally I thing linux is a better quality of an OS than windows will ever be. Face it the only reason people use windows is because it was forced down our throats.

The reason that the preformance of the transmeta chip is lower because it has the code morphing software on it. It can run x86 solaris alpha and maybe ppc im not sure. Thats why it has to convert the code to its own natural code then it flys. Personally I rather have a chip that uses less power and can run software made for other platforms. With some work I bet you could quad boot that sucker or even more for you os loveing pleasure!:)
I have tried ever distro from here to catmando and I have to say I like slack the best. Just because it is easy to setup, I did it my self which makes me feel good and proud of it and its stable and super fast. Other distros are good but they dont have the "I did this myself" feel to it. Maybe one day I will try debian but right now I dont see that in my future because Patrick V. is a stud...
You have to remember Opera is as close to being text based as you can be with a graphical enviroment. With mozilla you have a complete html editor with a wysiwg not just a beefed up text editor. Also mozilla has theme support. Yes it takes more memory but I perfer it to Opera, its open source not closed.

They cant tell napster to do that. They dont have the songs, they just provide the service. Like the Underground they sell you "water tobacoo pipes" hehe who actually uses them as "water tobacco pipes"? Not many, the Underground just provides a service like napster. And going after the users is pointless. They just need to wake up and smell the freshly burnt cd's mp3s are here to stay, getting people to change formats is going to be hard.
They should be loving the attention by fans instead of pushing them away. The Beave

If you check it there is no offical gnutella for linux just clones and linux doesnt deal with vbs or ini files. Get it right before you decide to rip on something you dont know about Beave
Games are a good waste of time but you should remember not all people play games 24/7 they have jobs and other things to do that are more important such as tweaking the kernel.
This whole thing is goofy you know. I just want a mouse that I can use not have to caress in a certain way. Anybody remember the punch glove from nintendo? That thing was near impossible to get working right and that was waving around now Jobbs wants us to rub our mices in the "right" way I say just buy an intellimouse and plug it in that is if you run a mac and need a mouse not a squeeze toy. I know what the new mices can be used for those stress reducing toys.:)
