Home keys? What are those? I remember using some sort of automated typing tutor years ago and giving up on it after I figured out how to type more efficiently without following any such. (I too have big hands which probably makes the difference.)
People say they don't get paid enough, and there aren't enough jobs to go around.
Sounds like the IT guys interviewed here took a cue from the nurses' union, which complains of "understaffing" every time you turn around, so they can get more members.

Mac asks you for the admin password whenever you install anytyhing. So the user would be asked for the admin password, which is usually a clue that something is going on, instead of having it installed surreptitiously via Internet Explorer browser exploits.
(The fact that there's no ActiveX for Mac is a huge advantage.)
Why? Why not just use Flickr? Or your own freaking home page?
I don't know what the Times guy was smoking, but from the main page, this looked totally lame. I don't see what if anything is special about Glide. Now Glide Memorial Church, that's another thing.
Usenet requires tons of bandwidth and storage, and serving it needs decent server hardware. I'm not sure anyone I know still uses it.
Exactly. And the vast majority of Usenet content is spam, porn, and warez. Why bother with it for the small fraction of users who would use it? A commercial usenet service is just the ticket for those who do want it.
A few years ago I worked at an ISP and we decided not to offer usenet for exactly this reason. Very, very few customers complained.
Well, I don't want to live under President Bush. But he was elected five years ago. These jerks need to get over it already and learn to accept reality.
you may notice that the UN's standards on free speech and human rights doesn't seem to be influenced much by China.
They also have no effect on China. This is why UN control is a bad idea - because it will be incompetent when well-intentioned, and will often be actively malicious, as seen this week with this summit being held in a country with no internet or press freedom.
You know it will be a useless talk-fest in an unfreecountry dominated by banana republic potentates with no real authority, moral or otherwise.
Anyone who thought that the USDOC and ICANN would give up control of a functioning, reliable network to these freaks is completely and totally nuts. (This means you, EU media, and the BBC specifically.)
I would strongly prefer the remain under the control of USDOC bureaucrats, however flawed, than become the next ITU committee dominated by Chinese Communists and UNESCO New World Information Order types who have no interest in free speech.
This whole thing sounds like a spam to me.

And it's very easy to send a copy to the Chinese Communist Party so that the user can be properly "re-educated."
I said it so you don't have to.
1. IPv4
2. ???
3. IPv6 !!!
The Underpants Gnomes would be proud.
For that it had better bring the crooks back wrapped in duct tape. I remember someone made a tiny wireless camera for a heck of a lot less.
This is why the GAO is doing what it's doing. This has no (0) benefits for consumers.
I'm surprised you can't tell that they're acting in their own economic interest - just like the IT guys interviewed for this article.
Newsflash! Unions look out for their own members, and try to get more. It's called acting in their own interest.

When you delete it, you can take advantage of hundreds of MB of disk space?

There's a sucker born every minute.

I never buy from iTMS anyway. I refuse to buy DRM'd tracks. Let them charge $99, it doesn't matter.

Perhaps they know you'll pay more because you signed up for Amazon Prime?
What a crappy list of artists. Anyone with Celine Dion in his PC deserves whatever he gets.
Finally, geeks start cleaning up their apartments?
Andy Grove had a cube too. Quit yer bitching.

I for one would like to take robust control of my Cajun recipes.
