  1. Re:Time to put a EULA on everything. on Windows 8: More EULA, Fewer Rights. · · Score: 1

So does this mean I can put a sticker on my car that says:

"By Reading this Bumper Sticker you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:
In the event of an accident the operator of this vehicle shall be held harmless for any damage or personal injury incurred to any person involved. You agree to take full personal and financial responsibility for any damage incurred to this motor vehicle and belongings."

Well .. if you are in the US then you'd have to take into consideration that given the state of the school system that there is a reasonable possibility that the driver following you can't read. So all the person who crashed into you would have to do is to feign illiteracy to show that the couldn't have agreed to the stated terms and conditions.

However a bigger issue is that your bumper sticker would only be visible from one particular angle, so once again how could people who hit you from the opposite side have consented to your terms?

I'd suggest that the best approach is to totally cover you car with these bumper stickers to guarantee that every approach angle is covered. However as noted before you'll also have to do some in pictorial form for the illiterate, also differing point sizes for the visually challenged, and in a variety of languages to compensate for those pesky foreigners who haven't yet learnt your mother tongue. If you do this I'd say there was a great chance that people would be avoiding you en masse when you drive down the road.

Facebook doesn't pay dividend. Those people can of course sell their stock when the price is higher. It's just been two market days.

And right now the price has flattened out at $33 (is $33 the new $38 fixed price?) .. so how likely do you expect the share price to rise above $38? What magical thing would FB have to do for such a rise?

  5. Re:Troubling signal, why? on Facebook Shares Retreat Below IPO Price · · Score: 5, Interesting

I can't really understand why you're saying that share price going down on IPO is a troubling signal.

I know what everyone is saying about how the $38 share price was perfectly picked as the correct valuation of the company, but (and I am not a financial expert) what does this mean to the people who bought in on Friday? With no major share price movement they are left with a bunch of stock certificates and all their money in the hands of FB. How does this become a worthwhile investment for them? They can't expect to get money back through increased share price, so they are going to have to rely on a dividend for returns. Is there any expectation that there will be a decent dividend?

I'm more inclined to believe what a pundit wrote a couple of weeks ago (and I have to paraphrase here) that up until the IPO FB had already sucked out as much money as possible from the system and that there was really nowhere to go after the IPO.

Actually I did find a statement as to what servers were affected: From The ABC didn't sack bit coin miner

Hardly a "federal" server unless the government is in on sports.

  7. ABC != Federal on Employee "Disciplined" For Installing Bitcoin Software On Federal Webservers · · Score: 4, Informative

Federal implies "of the Federation", which in the context of Australia implies the government. However while the ABC being the state broadcaster is funded (and owned) by the government it is not a federal organization. The ABC is independent of the government, so saying that the bit coin software was installed on federal servers is disingenuous to say the least. In fact after reading TFA's I can't see anywhere where it specifies exactly on what servers the software was installed other than some "web servers".

And once again the summary is a joke. You explain what "the coalition" is, but don't explain what the ABC is. I feel sorry for the people who pay for this site.

One poster also disputes your suggestion of "survey" saying that:
