WTF are you talking about. Unix and Linux are used extensively on mission systems with in the DoD. You think they use Windows to manage the Missile systems you need to think again.
of course a rebuttal of this is simply to point you at the USS Yorktown. True that the "missile"systems were not controlled by NT, but being dead in the water would not have helped firing any weapon at all.
I was thinking that as well. How often do Japanese people run across paralyzed monkeys and then think, "I bet this monkey would be good for stem cell research"
Yes thats correct. They run accross the monkey first, then think, "Yep he is a good candidate for stem cell research!"
All of the idiots who want to temporarily suspend the law to punish one person always forget that it could be their turn sooner than they think.
There is already at least one US Citizen[1] on a government death list who has had his rights to a trial magically removed. So I already think that it *is* sooner than you think
[1] Yes I know he is a terroist etc, but from what I understand he still remains a US Citizen
I guess you're right, it's the lesser evil. Still, I find it scaring and can't understand what makes a human being work day after day to design and manufacture such an evil device. Clumsy and random, as Obi-Wan would put it.
Next year I'm going to do work at a plant that makes cigarettes. Is that a suitable job for me rather than building weapon systems?
So did Christine O'Donell and Joe Miller. Fortunately, all the hardcore Tea Party activists seem to have been defeated.
To me the Alaskan race was the interesting spectacle. The Tea party candidate was ousted by the dynastic old republican candidate in a write-in campaign that, from what I understand, seemed barely legal.
I just saw a headline teaser on the TV that suggested that the Interpol alert on Assange has been lifted. Perhaps someone at Interpol was finally clued in that Assange was not the sort of person they are supposed to be looking for?
Thats what it amounts to. Developers are happily branching and branching off branches with no concern of whether what they branched off was stable in the first place.
Oh, you mean your camera doesn't run Linux. How odd
I used to have an HP dig cam that allowed you to write programs against a public API, that you could load into the camera via the CF card and then run from the camera.
Completely subjective view here, but the new iPod nano was impressive enough to elicit a 'holy crap' reaction when I first saw one
Same here.. except it also included a WTF about all the stuff they dropped that was in the previous edition of the nano. You didn't see Steve on stage saying "oh yeah, we removed the camera, and the Contacts App and..."
If what they release is to highlight illegal activity. However I draw the line at releasing documents that are the politicians equivalent of a drunken conversation at a frat party.
SLR-design was useful when you had cameras that made chemical exposures - the concept is simple: the light you see through the viewfinder will be the light that hits the film. For digital cameras, the very idea of flipping light between a viewfinder and the sensor is ridiculous: a digital preview going to an LCD screen shows you exactly what the sensor "sees"
Early on (and I can't be bothered to look up current technologies), there was two basic layouts of sensors 1) High quality or 2) ones that could do live preview. Guess which type went into DSLRs and which type went into consumer cameras?
Based on the summary it seems that the text generation expected 911 to work the way their life works. It is a pity that texting 911 didn't work and it is interesting that it is being investigated
Although I am curious to know if his name is being reported correctly. Is Poo his family name or is it Lin? Can anyone familiar with Malaysian names give an opinion?
Someone tell me the IP address of the website where I see Assange's bail.
The failure appears not to be an OS issue but an application issue; something that can happen with any OS.
The point was that the DOD is/was using Windows technology in critical applications.

replying to myself .. looks like I have it all wrong
Well, to her credit, she has a lot of followers.

If SAP doesn't like it then they can cease to doing business in America and with American companies.
Please Santa, I've been a good boy and its not like I have ever asked you for much before.
Yes. But this "system" just fires the flash. It doesnt do anything else.
Ummm .. You didn't watch the video did you?!?!!?
Oh, you mean your camera doesn't run Linux. How odd

Seriously, why do we need an Arduino to make a sound trigger?
Oh yes, all the cool kids use arduinos now, so if you make an electronics project without one, no one is going to read your article.
Well how about that the system:
Try doing all of that with 74xx gates and see how long it takes you to debug it

WTF is wrong with ... Soulskill?
I thought we established the other day that soulskill was a kdawson sock-puppet.
Could the underwear bomber have done any worse than what happened on Aloha airlines flight 243?
From the TFA: We wanted to send a direct response to the letter writers, but they failed to include a return address.

a sales person would write a contract with custom features that would cost more to develop than the total revenue for the contract.
Do I know you? That's what has happened in most of my recent projects.
Thanks - That's what I thought, but even the indictment has POO in all caps rather than LIN
Ooops .. I take that back. It is Scribd that has POO in all caps, the indictment has the complete name in caps.
It's a Chinese name (there's a large community of Chinese in Malaysia) Lin is the family name, Mun Poo is the given name.

For what its worth, his name Lin Mun Poo, not Lin Min Poo
POO lin Mun indictment
Although I am curious to know if his name is being reported correctly. Is Poo his family name or is it Lin? Can anyone familiar with Malaysian names give an opinion?
