  1. I dont agree with your blanket statement on Most Sophisticated Rootkit Getting an Overhaul · · Score: 2

Sorry, but technology is just a tool and some tools are good for only one thing: Bad.

  2. Comercial UI death-spiral on Linux Mint Will Adopt Gnome 3 · · Score: 1

They are in a group-think, target-fixated, death-spiral focused on mimicking the commercial UI experience. But the people who went to linux went there because they didn't like the UI decisions made by microsoft and apple. They went there because of the configurability of linux. And they went there because Linux Made Them More Productive.
Now, since the rate of climb for Linux adoption seems to be leveling off or dropping, they are coming up with crazy ideas to jump-start linux adoption again. And they are going to sell out the values that drew their early adopters to the program.
If the only choice is between: windows, mac, and a half-assed lookalike, they are going to abandon Linux.
Linux shouldn't try to mimic anything. It should be trying to define what the computer will look like 10 years from now. And that should not be a damn iphone.

  3. But its the brains that are the real problem! on EU Debates Installing a Black Box On Your Computer · · Score: 1

  4. Use state taxes to tax Federal Reps at 100% on Ron Paul Suggests Axing 5 U.S. Federal Departments (and Budgets) · · Score: 1

It makes no sense for our elected Congressmen and Senators to be outside the control of the states for 4+ years in a row. Tax their income at 100% using the state tax system, and then pay them via State revenues the balance. If they perform. If they vote and can show they are reading and understanding the laws they are voting on. And if they screw up, you have an instant tether to pull them back into line. No money.
Why are we allowing them to be paid by people who are not us? We might as well let people from other states vote on the elections as well.
You want to fix problems, make sure they know who they work for. Every other week when they get their paycheck. Signed by the Governor of their state.

  7. Can broadcast efficiencies be retained? on Microsoft To Bring Cable TV To 360 · · Score: 1

To the best of my knowledge, cable companies send their signal once, and all the boxes entitled to hear it hear it at the same time. This is very efficient for the sender. Transmissions based on tcp/ip will not be efficient. Are there plans in the works to use udp broadcast or multicast to replace the functionality of broadcasted stations? If they do broadcast the tcp data, then it would probably not be efficient for the receivers.
Are they discussing a replacement for broadcasted content that keeps things efficient?

  8. Yeah, well its already a fact for Mac Mini's on How Microsoft Can Lock Linux Off Windows 8 PCs · · Score: 1

We tried every trick on the planet to get a Mac Mini (current gen) to run linux and never could get it to boot. Which is too bad for them, because they lost sales. I had no trouble on previous Minis booting/running linux, and it was infuriating being locked out of the machine that way.
The real question is how people like Dell are going to handle it. And whether these machines can have multiple boot keys for multiple OS's.

Federal taxes are built into gas, phone bills, any product you purchase. Taxes are built into everything. They do this in such a way that the true cost of government is hidden from populace. After all, if you got a bill at the end of the year that said "You owe us 60% of everything you made this year", people might get testy.
So please dont think that the poor are not paying taxes. They are, and they are probably paying a fairly large portion of their meager incomes to boot.
