    Toaplan, Zero Wing's developer, went out of business in 1994. Aside from Zero Wing, Toaplan put out some great games. :|

    I read the article. I think that up until they start publicly shaming the engineer who lost the damn phone, the article was fine.

    As far as I understand the story, engineer takes a prototype gadget out into the wild, loses it, someone finds it, figures out it's a prototype, attempts to return it to apple, apple doesn't get back to them, dude sells phone to Gizmodo. Gizmodo then slutshames the engineer, and goes HA HA WE GOTS A PROTOTYPE IPHONE.

    Well, no. and maybe.

    According to the story Gizmodo ran, they claim their source attempted to contact Apple on several occasions to return the lost prototype. They also claim that the engineer left it at the bar. Depending on what the laws are like in California concerning lost goods, they may or may not be in trouble.

    Their DRM isn't flawed, where's the CFW? Where's the downloadable games?

    Granted, their DRM is going to be broken, I'm willing to bet, but it's year 4 of the PS3's existence and no long term DRM breaking scheme has been devised. No game console has gone this long between launch and breaking. Flawed? No. Unbreakable? Don't be so thick.

    As far as it costing them to maintain, they've got to fix the holes in the hypervisor, and that takes money they're not willing to spend.

    If I were at sony I'd argue to fix the hypervisor in the next firmware, not disable OtherOS completely, given that people are going to try to reenable the feature anyway. However, I don't work at Sony, I just shill for them for free on the Internet.

    You mean it's unethical to block out hardware that's not yours and not guaranteed to run on your software platform because you don't know what the hell it's going to do?

    You realize this happens every single fucking day? Is it unethical for linksys to lock out buffalo in their drivers even if they use the same chipset?

    Next you'll be asking why it's unethical to copy someone else's CS homework because they're locking you out of their software.

    WebOS hasn't failed. It's circling the drain, with hope of being fished out. As much as I'll shill and fanboy over the iPhone, WebOS IS a decent phone OS. I'd just rather have my iPhone.

    Suggesting that "OtherOS costs Sony real money" is no less applicable than saying "Blu-Ray users cost Sony real money".. should Sony disable PS3 users who play movies but DON'T play games?

    OtherOS costs money for Sony to maintain.

    You have a funny definition of less abusive.

    I do not want to spend $50 a year to have some 14 year old punk call me a "fag" because I suck at Modern Warfare over a headset. I do not want to buy new hardware because Microsoft is deciding that standard HID devices aren't good enough for console games. I do want to spend $100 on a feature that should be built in, like WiFi. etc. etc.

    If you want open gaming, get a PC. If you're willing to take some abuse, despite the loss of Other OS, Sony's the way to go.

    Given that in the 1760's and 1770's, Tea, cotton, and other forms of agriculture made up a huge portion of the American economy?

    I'd say that it's different. Parties have to vote on more than just one or two issues, and that's what really makes the pirate party so offensive to me.

    Not if you stare them down and play aggressively. Even if you're short stacked, a well timed, aggressive play will win pots by pressuring another player with more chips/money.

    No, but an ideology gives us some idea how someone will react to a given situation. Quite honestly, DADT is way more important than ACTA. So is ENDA, so is START 3.

    Pirate parties are the result of over privileged middle/upper class folk being bitchy about not being allowed to install linux on thier PS3, iPad or toaster so they can use VLC to watch old episodes of Babylon 5.

    After watching Phil Ivey burn out at the WSOP last year... I'd say it's both. It's about making the right decision based on what you know, and what ou have. You can't last long in tournament play if you're a sloppy player, and on the reverse, no matter how good you are, if you're drawing crap hands, even if you muscle in with crap cards, it's going to destroy you.

    It's also certainly gambling, but it's not the same as blackjack or slots which is entirely a you vs the house, it is a you versus everyone else(the house gets a small cut) situation.

    Further more, this is 2010. Not 1890. We know that the interaction of chiropractic doesn't actually *do* anything other than give you a firm massage.

    Except two things, first off, you can code on a Mac in any language you want. There's nothing stopping you from releasing software in Mindfuck or whitspace. Second, Apple's also not telling every OEM on the face of the fucking planet to sell OS X ... Or Else.
