  1. This has nothing to do with morality or censorship. Advertisers don't want to be associated with this crap and YouTube has no obligation to pay anyone anything. The videos are still there.

  2. I have no issue with dumb/offensive/edgy/whatever videos, but YouTube has no obligation to pay the creators. Advertisers have started making clear they don't want to be associated with these "creators" anyhow. Win/win as far as I can tell.

All these posts are completely missing the point and not understanding at all how T1 (voice or data) pricing is determined. This is not a technical or economic issue at all (that would be too logical). It is simply tariffs. The PUC decides what LECs and CLECs can charge. CLECs can charge less (to improve competition), but your LEC has a fixed price that it *must* charge for T1 in your area. There is *no* getting around this. It really comes down to room full of old white men deciding the price.. Here is an example for at&t in California.

First of all no normal business with 2000 internal phones would have 500 trunks. That would be severe overkill and huge waste of money. Maybe 200. I'm in the phone business and believe me even large hotels with 2000 rooms get away with 150 trunks. Only more if it was a busy call center or telemarketing outfit.

Secondly, how do you imagine these trunks get magically redistributed to users homes? Maybe you mean each person could have their own line at the company to dial into with a modem? If so, remember these lines are likely not individual copper trunks, but T1, PRI, or some such that would need to be muxed into a modem pool or something...

I've seen a program on some cracker sites that will generate lists of "valid" CC numbers with this algorithm.

The National Accounts Organization has contacted over 375 clients, and is actively supporting 11 of those clients, including the New York / New Jersey Port Authority. Other clients who are based in lower Manhattan have been unable to assess their communications needs at this time. In addition to helping business clients set up temporary communication facilities, Expanets offices in the New York area are also working to supply additional capacity to area hospitals, have helped procure wireless phones for the New York Fire Department, and are in discussions with the FAA to establish a command center to help manage call volumes.

In Washington D.C., Expanets was on hand to monitor the operation of the American Red Cross' large Avaya switch, which received one million call attempts yesterday. We have also established an Emergency Response Center so clients who need our services can reach us at one, central number. That number for clients is 800-317-3811.

I suppose the shortage of copper facilities in most areas of No. California may have something to do with this...
