Much of the construction process is out of your hands once you and the building contractor have reached an accord. In one of those pervasive occupational instances of irony, the difference between the price you've agreed on and what it actually costs to finish the project is what the contractor makes. Additionally, each subcontractor beneath the general contractor is working a 'bid job' as soon as their feet hit the site... in no way, shape, form, nor circumscription is this a statistically beneficial scenario for the building owner. Sure, there are some honest contractors who will complete a job per submittals and specifications even if they underbid the scope of their work, but I've seen examples of the other type aplenty.
You will never replace timely, intuitive thinking skills with instantaneous access to all "knowledge"....access to all knowledge will amount to differing viewpoints just as it does here on the old/., regarding the same given facts. YES, an accumulation of other people's proven doctrines is a good baseline for intelligence, but true genius all too often involves a momentary leap of imagination that is above and beyond what is "known". The game of life is like the game of comebacks, and thinking of a good one the next morning in the shower is just lame. Most points are awarded for speed.
By and large, Texas' legendary racism virtually ensures the Chinese will keep migrating to sunny Cali, NY/NJ, Seattle, Chicago, and the Capitol....like many Asian immigrants, they seem to prefer the Blue States.
How exactly are we to continue to grow as a species if we confine ourselves to this life of luxurious ease, squandering the finite resources of our home planet? We are on the cusp of the technology necessary for off-planet adventure, settlements, and discovery. Generations of men/women before us have sacrificed personal comforts to better our understanding of science, the World, the Solar System, etc. We are approaching understanding of the origin of the Universe and, indeed, life itself. Get up and do something, even if the support of future endeavors is all you have in you. Sitters are quitters.

(Like many renewable energy sources) I merely suggest that if petroleum and fresh water simultaneously become scarcer, this is, at the very least, offtoperesting.
