If I had to bet the light bill money one way or the other, my tens of dollars bet on Gov't using the the fingerprint information if they have the ability. I consider it a good sign that all American fingerprints, and DNA for that matter, are not in a database accessible to government/law enforcement entities. Despite all the "compelling" buzzphrases used by officials (children, terrorists, drugs, safety), some evidence still suggests we are a republic.

I wonder if this can be linked in any way to the dramatic drop in honeybee populations? Does the population drop-off begin near the implementation of any new wireless technology? Correlation may not lead to causation, but it has been known to lead to wild speculation.

I'm not a huge fan of banning something for everyone because a minority of miscreants are incapable of using it responsibly. The lawmakers, in their seemingly endless struggle to legislate every hot button topic that reaches the news feeds, make themselves and their silly rules less relevant with each new weighty tome of regulations. It's not that human kind has moved beyond the need for codes of conduct, far from it, but once everything is against the law we are all lawbreakers.
Before we had a 24 hour news cycle there was still some merit in reviewing coverage of an event or an idea from multiple sources. It was more difficult then, because a good deal of the time Brokaw, Rather, and the morning paper were repeating the same AP/Reuters news report. Today you can get your news du jour on several cable channels, the networks, and at least a thousand places on the interwebs. It is still a good idea to check a story in more than one place before accepting it as accurate.
Blind folks are at the mercy of bill sorting different denominations in their wallets and the honesty of the people they trade with here in The States.
