    Call me crazy, but if someone mistakenly leaves their wireless network open, and you hop on and use their bandwidth...couldnt they sue your pants off for stealing from them? And isn't stuff like that a crime, anyway?

    There may be some that intend to let people share their bandwidth so they leave it open, but I'm sure that's not the case for most....

    ah, she's a bit beyond speak-and-spell...she does manage to work her way thru the right-click on the root window to pull up blackbox's menu, and navigate down to the apps->win4lin entry to pull up a Win98 session in a window on my Linux box...gotta give her credit there. Girls only seem to learn computers as much as they have to, as opposed to guys, who learn all they can, whether they need to know it or not.

    Do you think it would be worth it to install OSX on such a laptop, used by my gf, who pretty much just surfs, word processes and checks email on it? She's got Mac OS 9 on it, which works ok but freezes up too much. Is OS X gonna make this better? i guess, are the problems having to do with the apps, or with the laptop hardware?

    If you don't have time to set your VCR's clock (I can do it in well under a minute, I think, though I've never timed it), then you're living your life wrong. I mean, what's wrong with a little time out now and again? (mental note...throw in some quote about sniffing the roses or something).

    How do you decide when your product is "dumbed down" enough? Should we be making cool gizmos instantly useable to your average blue collar Joe Schmoe? Or a little more difficult than that? I mean, if learning to set your VCR, or operate your PC, or turn off the god-damned annoying features of MS Office, or whatever it is makes your brain form a couple new synapses, are you really all that much worse off?

    I tried searching nearly every opennap network for Metallica Call of Ktulu, and just had no luck (sure, a couple ppl seemed to have it but the transfers never started).

    Now I had no trouble finding it on the filtered Napster. Go figure.

    By the way, I was legitimately seeking this song, cuz my Ride the Lightning cd got too scratched up. Crazy eh...a legit use of Napster to download a copyrighted song?

    You know, with all the people who complain about the quality of music encoded as MP3 vs Ogg vs the original CD....It just makes me sick. I mean, the recorded music you're listening to was all doctored to hell anyway to make it sound right. I say, just go to the concerts by these artists and hear the music how it really sounds, and stop your frickin' whining, it's pissing me off.
