I doubt that his intent was to create just one tarpit. The artical says "This is just a drop in the bucket", If a lot of networks ran tarpits, they could stop a few and SLOW, not stop the spread of the viruses, maybe giving other administrators time to patch. And it IS a tarpit because the worm that attacked the tarpit is stuck, and cannot spread. Thats like saying a real tarpit is not a tarpit because is didn't trap all animals, but only stopped a small number.
I also agree with the posters above me, You my friends (LinuxLudite, [amorphis], and Reality Master 101) are fucking idiots

Are you telling me that before this happened you would have thought an attack like this was concievable? I still can't believe what I seen on Tuesday (9/11/2001). They probably brushed it off as another idle scare.

As most military action is TOP SECRET before it actually happens, I doubt we (the US) would even concieve of asking for permission to send a plane into bid laden's house.

God I hope they don't do that here (RoadRunner Binghamton).
I'm running Apache (1.3.17) and I have awstats running. I've gotten 1926 (as of 7:10 EDT) from the virus. If I had to run a MS operating system as a webserver I would trust apache more then IIS.
I did say that Thiokol built the SRBs (Solid Rocket Boosters), I would argue that the booster design was to blame. The O-ring was part of the booster design. (FYI) The whistle blower was Roger Boisjoly (sp?). I did mean to include a more oblivious tinge of sarcasm but couldn't think of a way to do it. And, I never said it would affect sales I was merely proving the fact that I had noticed and recognized the Thiokol name.:)
That fuel tank the guy is holding says "Thiokol Propulsion". If memory serves, Morton Thiokol was the company that designed the flawed solid rocket boosters on the ill-fated Challenger (and other). You think they, if it's the same company, would have removed the "Thiokol" from their name. Just a thought but I hope they can make the cars operate safely in low temperatures. I can almost picture the headlines now. "Vehicle Explodes After Accelerating, GM Blames Thiokol."
I'm using NAT with TimeWarner when I first got RR they where completly against it. Now they even (partially) support it. I just wish some of these providers would not frown upon servers (HTTP,FTP,...) although TimeWarner hasn't said anything to me...yet...:)
Gotta love dyndns.org free Dns Listings for Dynamic IP's!

Dude you hit it right on. I am a CS major but I working as a IT tech to get me though school (its amazing what kind of job you can get after just one semester of CS:) The shit I take on a daily basis is incredible people don't seem to understand what we do. They think we broke it when in fact it was Mr. Gates who did the dirty work we're just cleaning the shit up. (They also seem to forget that we can fuck there shit up, gotta love the administrative shares in NT). After working in Tech Supp. I know for a fact that I picked the right major CS all the way! I just keep telling my self 2 more years.
I have one of those (Virtual Boy) and have never had any problems with it. (In fact the Pinball game is amazing). They where selling them off at a KB Toy store $25 + 3 games.
Nice Cover.

:) I still have one set up, I built one of my own design and never had the heart to take it apart.
Those things kicked ass!
