To be fair, I don't think that science really has an agenda to push other than the furthering of human understanding. WMD's and Eugenics were actually developed by science, for wars which are more often than not brought about by religious zealots.

No one's hands are clean, but it's not like these people would have come up with this stuff without the motivation of pleasing their deities.

We can also thank it for the inquisition and the dark ages. While we're at it, why don't we thank it for the Bush administration and it's stifling of scientific progress. To defend religion as a friend of and benefactor to scientific advances is akin to thanking colonial slavery for having a black president.

In this specific case the issue isn't whether copyrights would be infringed upon since this work would still be covered under the original copyright before it was extended out to the ridiculous term is currently sits at. If this were an issue where the great grand children of the composers were coming out and saying "stop using pappy's work" then that point about "get a job" might we valid, but since this is about the actual creators saying "this asshole can't use our song" then it's less a matter of them not having a job or content creation and more a matter of "we don't want this douche to give our song a bad name while we have something to say about it"

That all of these technological marvels were initially used as a means to communicate during times of unrest and now they themselves are becoming instruments and willing participants in the suppression of insurrection and communication that has not been sanitized. This is the type of behavior that I expect from the likes of GE, Novatris, and ADM, but when supposed open web companies like Twitter start actively colluding with oppressive regimes it does not bode well for humanity as a species.

That's not entirely accurate. The Unions can decide to charge so much for their labor, but they have to be reasonable to what the employer is willing to pay, just as the company must do with the products they sell. You wouldn't pay $5.00 a pack for a Kool-Aide packet so for the same reason Companies won't pay someone $25.00 to stand at the end of a line and tape boxes shut. However, if Kraft foods and it's competitors decide to get together and make you pay $1.00 per pack then you'd really have no choice but to either pay it or go without. In the sense of labor, the supply greatly outstrips demand which is why labor must band together to prevent the companies from colluding in such a manner as to drive wages down to the unlivable range. Labor unions are about helping the people that produce where the corporations are more centered on creating wealth for investors and only care about labor as a means to an end and not an essential part of the equation.
