How do I know this sort of thing? I've heard it over "criticisms" much milder than what he wrote.

So you think it's problematic because that's why you think other people think, even though those other people are not complained. In fact I've only seen a few tweets about how much better it is.

In fact you replied to me, the reluctant king of Slashdot SJWs, praising it.

At least with the usual fake outrage there is a single tweet or comment somewhere. This time, literally nothing. Just your assumption that someone somewhere must be offended.

Strange thing is that it hasn't destroyed Linux or forced Linus to accept bad code to avoid offending anyone.

Something strange is going on. C16 was passed over a year ago and no one has gone to jail yet.

Is the reason that incels are not getting laid because of society or because they have mental health problems and wallow in their own misery?

Head over to some incel forums and have a look at the selfie threads. They post images of themselves so that the other incels can point out all the things wrong with them, the things they think mean they can never find a girlfriend. It's mostly nonsense, the guys posting are normal looking and you see lots of similar looking guys in relationships. But they are convinced the shape of their skull is the problem and the other incels confirm it.

Trans people have the same thing. Trans women post selfies and other trans women tell them they will never pass as feminine and can't fix their bone structure.

Sexbots may help, but I worry that they will exploit incels and others. Look at how bad DLC and loot crates (gambling) are in video games.

  9. The claim that diversity or something lead to the fall of Rome has been widely debunked and is not accepted by most historians.

The short answer is that Rome fell because it got too large to control and defend adequately, and because its power structures were flawed. I should also point out that the Roman empire lasted a very long time - parts of it for 1000 years after the fall, and the period considered the decline of the empire was longer than the entire history of the modern United States.

The "white genocide" conspiracy theory does target whites. It tries to convince them that they are being attacked and under existential threat, and thus control and manipulate them for nefarious purposes.

  11. For white supremacists "white" means of a pure European bloodline, basically the same blond blue eyed rubbish that the Nazis were into.

"White genocide" is anything that decreases the relative number of "white" people to all other people. So that can be immigration, interracial marriage and children, anything that tries to improve diversity or integration or race relations, casting black actors in roles that were once played by white actors... Pretty much anything that isn't borderline Nazi racial purity propaganda.

  12. "English" is barely a thing either. The UK was invaded and conquered so many times, there are very few people with pure Saxon genetics these days. Most of us are a mixture of Saxon, Angles, Vikings and of course Asian and African from the days of Empire.

Most of those have little to do with why the railways in Japan are so efficient.

The real reasons are things like the way they train staff to stick rigidly to procedure and timing. The procedures themselves are well designed, e.g. they play a little tune on the platform that stops exactly 10 seconds before the doors close, so everyone including the passengers knows what is happening. They have markings to show where the train doors will be and the drivers stop in precisely the right place, so everyone is lined up. People then move to the side of the doors so that people can exit the train, and they can embark in an orderly fashion.

Plus on the busy lines they have trains arriving every 5 minutes, so people aren't so inclined to rush and cause problems.

You don't need the best people, you just need people who can stick to procedure. I have no idea what you mean about passport controls - do you mean passport checks at stations?!

The issue is that Musk made statements about production issues at Tesla that may not have been true. Similar to the "funding secured" claim that got him fined $20M and put on a leash by the SEC.

Public companies have to be very careful about statements they make regarding things like production because people then make investment decisions based on them, and they must be truthful. It looks like Musk was baited by short sellers into making statements that were, shall we say, "optimistic" at best.

Google uses AI to generate 3D models of buildings and other structures from satellite photos. It's incredibly good, most of the world has very detailed and accurate 3D data now. Their AI also understands what is sees in street view photographs, and adds detail to the maps. They have the best routing* and traffic data too.

    * I'm sure someone will point out how terrible it is where they are, but I've tried a lot of different services and apps and Google is always the best overall.

"Social constructionism is a theory of knowledge in sociology and communication theory that examines the development of jointly constructed understandings of the world that form the basis for shared assumptions about reality. The theory centers on the notion that meanings are developed in coordination with others rather than separately within each individual.

Another example of a social construction is the concept of self/ self-identity. Charles Cooley stated based on his Looking-Glass-Self theory: "I am not who you think I am; I am not who I think I am; I am who I think you think I am."[2] This demonstrates how people in society construct ideas or concepts that may not exist without the existence of people or language to validate those concepts."

  18. You have to wonder why the CIA didn't simply block the Google bot from trawling their web site.

  19. Most social constructs are not created by committee, they just evolve naturally. Beauty is another good example - the ideal varies between cultures, but isn't regulated by law or proclamation.

  20. Again, it's not saying that gender is defined by fashion choices, it's saying that gender is a term that describes how, among many other things, certain fashion choices are associated with the concepts of male and female, masculine and feminine.

You can't just randomly take someone to court to prove a point, there has to be some financial stake. Compensation would have been paid by Google for not providing a safe working environment, so the only way it could have ended up in court is if Rubin had sued Google for his $90M.

I suppose we could set up courts to decide this kind of thing, but does it make any sense when the question of if he did it isn't really in dispute?
