    In the past it's been attributed to finding strings in the local language of the hackers. Strings in malware binaries, temporary files/directories used to exfiltrate data etc.

    Hopefully it wasn't just an IP address.

    You mean Carl Benjamin, aka Sargon? Maybe the n word was the last straw, but the guy has a long history of doing shit that Patreon explicitly says you should not do if you want to use their service. And many other people have been kicked off for less; they took a very long time to enforce their ToS.

    What the freeze peach crowd really want is to be promoted on the popular platforms. Some want the money, some want the exposure.

    What does such a designation require of the site though? Say for example YouTube had to host the videos, would it also be required to include them in search results? How about promoting them as "trending" or as recommendations? I guess the real world example would be giving everyone equal billing at a venue.

    PayPal still sends you codes by SMS, so of course any software on your phone that can intercept SMS messages can read them. They don't seem to support U2F at all.

    Often SSD failures can be predicted or at least diagnosed by looking at SMART data. That's what it's for, after all. Some manufacturers provide better data than others.

    Like HDDs, sometimes the electronics die too. Usually a power supply issue. Can be tricky to diagnose. SSDs are slightly worse as with HDDs you can often replace the controller PCB and get them working again, where as SSDs are a single PCB with the controller and memory.

    I work with some older guys who use standing desks because of back or knee problems. A few hours a day standing seems to help them a lot.

    Qualcomm is an American company. They are trying to turn the screws on Apple any way they can.

    It's the same tactic that Apple used with Samsung a few years back when there was a patent dispute over rounded corners. Sue in multiple jurisdictions.

    What amount of influence do you think the people looking at companies selling gambling services to kids have over arrests of political dissidents, for example?

  23. Most of these stories about objecting to Christmas are fake. There was a big on in the UK with massive outcry of rage from freeze peach warriors, but it turned out that actually it was just the local council trying to organize a little pre-Christmas market.

    As usual, the only people shouting anyone down were the freeze peach warriors.

    The "new" capacity is replacing old plants with more efficient, cleaner ones. Same thing happened in Germany.
