Agreed. Commodore did have 030 & 040 in the higher end models, but found it too expensive for low-end. It was only in 1996 that 68030 was proposed as the base for a low-end machine (the Walker). At this time 030 was the entry spec of a decent machine. I visited the World of Amiga show to see the prototype & considered purchasing it or a 040 A1200 accelerator. Of course, I went with the CPU board - a decision I never regretted.
I'm amazed that this has surprised so many people. Appearance & personality are based upon far more than genetics, taking into account social & environmental factors. For example, the food you were fed as a child has a massive influence upon your eventual height when you reach puberty. Like the Slashdot articles that are reposted and elicit different responses, personality & appearance rely upon a diverse range of factors that, to the untrained eye, would appear completely random. Though they are a genetic clone, they remain unique.
A good web site for Amiga history can be found here. Brownie points for computer collecting are awarded to anyone who possesses one of the various Amiga prototypes that have appeared over the years.
What will happen when the crocodiles attempt to eat these robots? Will we see lawsuits filed by crocodile protection groups?
Alternatively, couldn't we save money and persuade the Mutant Ninja Turtles to lay the cables? They've had nothing to do since the show got cancelled. What a group of lazy bums, especially that Splinter geezer!
The first one didn't have any games built in, it was usually bundled with one or two titles - Alex Kidd or Shinobi. It was only when the Master System was released that the hardware was cheap enough to incorporate a complete game (usually Sonic 1)
As a side note, Meka - the Windows or DOS based Master System emulator - has recently gained support for these built-in games, treating them as normal ROM images.
I agree. This isn't a matter of Apple doing the right thing, it's a matter of protecting their property. Both companies sell digital products, either services or hardware. There is an obvious crossover.
On a more serious note, does anyone know of games currently being developed for the SMS? According to SMS Power the last game to be developed was in 1997.
I've been waiting 20 years for 'Miner Willy meets the Taxman' - the sequel to Manic Miner. I'm becoming increasingly concerned that it will never appear...
1) know something we don't know about the demand for their platform,
There is still a demand for the Amiga platform. At the recent St. Louis show three Disney animators created a series of concept designs for free. The Amiga has retained its image as a multimedia machine even after years of neglect. The new Amiga Corp. are hoping to tap into this to create something new.
2) think the kit is the only product they'll ever sell,
Using this logic, Sony must be really be desperate. Look at the price of their DevKits! Why should they give it away for free?
Everyone I have encountered in the UK pronounces it root-er.

It appears this is a misprint. If you look to the bottom of the same page it states:
- The Sega Master System II (U.S. and Europe, 1990)
- The Sega Master System III (Brazil, c.1987)
It is more likely that the Master System 3 was released in 1997.
... will there be a Sonic Adventure port? :)
