I can't believe no one has mentioned the Konami games on the NES? (uu--dd-lr-lr start!)
If I just want to kill some time, I'll just fire up Contra or my favorite, Life Force.
But, man, the NES had so many good games. Castlevania, Zelda, Metroid, the list goes on and on.
Or, if you want to go even older than the NES, how about some Intellivision games? Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Astrosmash, Triple Action, Pinball or Sea Battle. Man, I wish I never let my parents sell that console.
I wish I was lucky enough to have a Galaga machine. I'd get on it and never ever get off. I love Galaga.
What part of DO NOT CALL ME do you MORONS don't understand? I'm not buying your crap, so quit wasting my time and your time. Annoy me enough, I'll NEVER do business with you again!
Seriously, do what I did-- lose the landline. They call you on your cell phone, send them a bill for the airtime.
If you ever use a non-Epson in your Epson printer, NEVER EVER put Epson carts in it again, or goodbye printer. The Epson ink is designed so that it will react with cheaper ink and kill the printheads, which of course aren't removable. Of course, its cheaper to buy a new printer than to have your (now) busted one fixed.
I just refuse to buy any Epson printers any longer as I have had this happen even when only Epson ink was used in an Epson printer.
On the inkjet side I am now a Canon guy (despite the fact that they don't get Linux at all) for the one simple fact that you can install new printheads if the head fails.

I never post here, but want to set the record straight on the TiVo's features.
Suggestions are optional. There is a menu setting under "Messages and Setup ==> My Preferences. Don't care for suggestions? Turn them off. (like they are on my TiVo)
TiVo will never delete something you have as a Season Pass in order to record a suggestion. If stuff is expiring too quickly, that's just a sign you need to put in some bigger hard disks.
(or watch less TV)
If TiVo records something you don't like, give it one thumb down before you delete it. That's all it takes. Seriously! The only thing you should give three thumbs down to is Paid Programming.
If your suggestions get too out of whack then you can clear all of them. Go into the "System Resets" under "Messages and Setup" and there is an option to "Reset Thumb Ratings and Suggestions".
A good resource for all things TiVo is the Tivo Community forum at

You'll learn more than you ever wanted to know about TiVo there.
(they'll probably kill me now for linking to them from Slashdot.)

I swapped my Fujitsu 1.6 for a IBM Travelstar 4.8 gig in my machine and it runs fine. I think it'll even go higher than that, capacitywise.
If you want a new laptop though, there are only two you should look at
-Toshiba -IBM
I had a Toshiba before I had my 1610 and it took a 7 foot fall out of my backpack. Broke some plastic off the machine and destroyed the hard disk but once replaced it ran just fine again. I stopped using it because it was a 486 and just too slow.
All the Thinkpads I have looked at are very solid machines too, though I haven't used one recently.
I use the aforementioned TiVoApp to pull the tystreams off of TiVo (running extractstream and sending the data to the PC over netcat). A raw tystream is best and avoids the problem with tyconvert in TiVoApp.
You need a new NowShowing.tcl to work with TiVo's 3.0 software. It's available in the TiVo hacking forum on dealdatabase.com
I then use a program called vsplit to split the tystream into m2v and m2a audio files. You can find this in the TiVo hacking forum on Dealdatabase.com. (Jdiner, you rock!)
This program leaves an audio offset which you use later. I have found vsplit works better than the zss program Merch uses.
Merch's guide tells you how to make SVCD's and is the best guide I have found to date.
The only problem is the amount of time required to encode the video. One episode of Enterprise (sans commercials) takes 6 hours on my 1 ghz Athlon.
Well, I can relay my experience with IceWM.
I had an old AMD K5 133 (roughly a Pentium 100) with 48 MB of RAM that was totally unusable with Gnome. So I tried both IceWM and Blackbox
Blackbox was a little too spartan for me, so my next choice was IceWM. Once I got it configured the way I wanted it, it was very nice.
Even though that machine now has a Celeron 400 and lots of memory in it, I still use IceWM
Your mileage might vary if you have less than 32 MB...
Dallas actually has another Saturday sale other than First Saturday.
I too will confirm that there is lots of good stuff to be had out there. Lots of junk too. But I have found things out there that I can't find any place else in Dallas/Fort Worth.
There is also a Third Saturday sale in the West End on the Third Saturday of the month.
This used to be in Mesquite at the Big Town exhibit hall but has since moved out to the West End in Dallas.
