I have been beta testing this for a while and at first I was a little sceptic about how all this stuff was going to make me more productive and I said the same thing. Give it a couple of weeks. I didn't think it was going to be more productive but it really has. Its also a lot easier to work with and working with files and folders makes a lot of sense now.
Remote Desktop, Built in Firewall, Seamless Wireless Integration, Built in Zip Utility, Sytem Restore, Driver Rollback, WMP 8, Windows Messenger, Updated Interface, Task Based design.
When your computer starts taking verbal abuse it should turn itself off. That way you when you rip the bugger out of the wall you won't have to fsck the hard disk once you calm down.
What non standard interfaces are you talking about? I use MSN DSL (not qwest) and my linux machine works fine. TCP/IP is standard last time I checked. Or has that changed?
RTFF Tard. It says clearly that if you aren't running windows then your service won't be affected at all. It specifically states that MSN is working on a Mac client and until one is available the service they are currently getting won't change.
Again I would say the logical challenge is a great leap indeed.
I really hate it when people try tp put things in a simple little box. The web is so much more than just "content." Thats like saying the linux kernel shouldn't end up in watches or in other devices because that wasn't what it was originally designed to do.
Don't be so close minded. The web is a constantly changing organism and I don't think there is any real appropriate definition. You can't label something that is constantly changing.
And I assure you there is much more to the web than just text. Art, music, games, and yes eye candy all exist on the web.
IBM espouses so much about being an open company and promoting open things. And then they go and pull something like this. I seriously don't get this company. I really want to like them but more and more I can't.
I disagree with all of these supposed "points" this guy makes. You don't have to get a passport. I don't think thats a legitimate beef. If you want to run messenger on 2000 you have to use a passport. Nothing new there.
As far as features go its got a ton of cool new stuff included. So to say it doesn't have new features is a blatant lie.
Internet Connection Firewall, DualHead, Integrated CD Burner, Integrated Zip Utility, Integrated Themes, Integrated Icon Chooser, Different views for folders, Windows Messenger, etc. etc. etc...
I could go on and on. So go ahead and mod me up as insightful.
You obviously have done zero research on Windows XP. To say it contains no new features is a blatant lie. You get modded for being insightful because you got in some snide comments about MS? Way to go.
That depends on why B works and A doesn't. If they are both capable of working and I already paid for A I would use that. If A doesn't work at all then I wasted my money and would have to go with B.
I live in Texas and emailed my House Representative and both Senators and received both a reply email back and a typed letter through snail mail from all three of them. I think it depends on the representatives.
You speak as if you know a lot about MySQL and thats great. It sounds to me that you aren't as familiar with SQL server and as such will trash it now. We have a guy at work who does the same thing. Anything made by MS is instantly crapware not fit for anyone. Problem is this guy is a server administrator who is in love with linux.
We are a windows shop and he does everything in his power to push linux over windows always saying snide comments. He doesn't even take the time to learn how to use it properly. Anything will be better if you don't give it a chance. But if its your job to administer the servers. Shouldn't you at least do a good job? If I take money from someone to do a job I owe it to that person to give them good service. Is this different in the Open Source crowd?
Does anyone know where I can buy Farscape Season 1 on DVD? All I have seen is the individual shows sold separately. I want the whole season ala The Sopranos Entire First Season.
Why is that news for nerds and stuff that matters has to revolve around MS so much here lately? If I wanted Windows news I would go to Microsoft.com or ActiveWin.com, not/.
I disagree, The thing that I think why most people use Microsoft products is the fact that they ARE better products. I have used Star Office, and I didn't like the experience at all. I have used Corel's crap, and its no good. Now some people attribute other Vendor's software being not as good as Microsoft's due to Microsoft not releasing their API's and other things like that. I think that is a BS copout answer. What about all the great Adobe Apps that work perfect on Windows (and the MAC). Good software can be made by non Microsoft vendors. So for me the reason I use MS Office is because I prefer the interface and workflow. I am more productive with Office and I simply think there aren't better products out there for any platform. If all you want to do is view word/excel/powerpoint documents there are free viewers available (but you can't save or edit). A MS office free environment is available but I ask why? As I go to the University of Texas I get Office for 20 bucks. So I can't whine about MS products being expensive. In other news... -Ben
Just imagine how much time everyone could save by using Linux!!!

Actually its Dead or ALIVE.
Why not get an IBM microdrive. It comes in lots of different form factors, works on a multitude of devices and has a great range of sizes.

More reasons to talk dirty to my sexy computer. Now if only I could get Carmen Electra's talking back to me...
What non standard interfaces are you talking about? I use MSN DSL (not qwest) and my linux machine works fine. TCP/IP is standard last time I checked. Or has that changed?
Does anyone on the service run Linux and FreeBSD? If not then its a moot point. If they are show me some numbers.

I for one am glad that they do.

Well by that argument why don't we run Windows on every machine in the US? Do your civic duty install windows now.

And everyone said Texas was bad . . .
I don't get it what do you mean? Can you dumb that down a little bit for me?
