I don't use extra batteries for my phone but I do always get an extended battery for my netbook. Between that and the battery it comes with, that's about 14 hours of use before needing a recharge. Also bonus hardhack, stick in a 4gb class 10 SD card into your slot and let windows use it to boost the speed, it does make quite a difference on low RAM machines like netbooks, where you can max out your memory fairly easily. What's not to love!
I'm fascinated by the adversarial attitude the college administration appears to have towards their students. I mean unless there's more to this story than we know about, like he made suggestive comments about the press or threatened them first, they apparently made him sign an NDA and booted him when they felt he had no recourse.
I'd have very serious questions about the ethical or even social ability of these people to operate a third level institution. It strikes me as classic CYA from middle management with extreme prejuidice, which typically indicates angry disconnected shut-ins in the back room. Well, either that or aloof disconnected gentlemen's clubs in the back room. Same result either way. It's not a learning environment from their perspective, it's a simmering cauldron of unpleasantness that must be kept strictly under control lest it get in the way of money.
Sorry, turning a decent steak into a burger makes no sense without additives. The way to treat a steak is to pocket it and fill it with blue stilton, not slobber it with mayo and red sauce.
Not to question science (no, wait, I think that's the point of science), does that mean all blue eyed people are descended from one single person at most ten thousand years ago? Or that multiple people acquired this unusual mutation simultaneously and outbred everyone else in the region, which seems even less likely?
I have a doubt.
And no, the large dinosaurs like T-Rex weren't around at that time either.
And snarky comments like this are the exact opposite of science, well done.
Why do you think neanderthals had dark hair and brown eyes? Doesn't it seem a little odd that the only place you can find blonde hair, red hair, blue or green eyes and white skin also happens to be the same location that the neanderthals were mostly last seen in?
Unless the user is in Europe. I don't see why many users would be loath to give up their phone numbers anyway, they've already given up photographs, locations, areas of residence, email addresses, basically everything else.
He's talking about a basic wage, not communism. The instincts you describe are very useful in such a system, preventing a society of sloth from developing. Really, its like much of Europe at the minute, except more explicit.
Yes, build it in space and work from there. I think we're going to have to re-evaluate the idea of spaceships taking off from earth in the same way that cargo ships can't go across land.
Maybe a list of one-time pads kept securely in the DoD? I could definetely see value in being able to secure a coastline by sailing around dumping a load of smart mines armed with supercavitating torpedos and advanced sensors with the ability to tell friend from foe. Or even better, send a sub around an enemy's coastline and drop them invisibly, break in case of war. Instant blockade! Given how important control of the ocean is, this could well be an overwhelming advantage.
Most of us English speakers would have written: "You know most of us English speakers, both in the USA and elsewhere, would have written "So Much of Australia is on Fire" for a headline."
Muphry's law strikes again (closing quotation mark).

Either that or it would be awesome.
I'm keeping an eye on that!

Nowhere does it say it is 100% beef
...except in the summary.
Oh you are so missing out.

So nothing in there but beef? How does it all stick together?
If it were 100% beef it would be a steak. Still I'd prefer the meat elements of my burger to not be anything except what they claim to be.

If we can breed with it, it's human.

Judging by how quickly they went extinct, they are probably very tasty... what, just saying...
No idea why this isn't at +5...
Er, what you said and what I said have nothing to do with one another.

Bingo. Its a source of continuous amazement to me how many slashdotters think that oil makes their computers go.

Why wouldn't we have enormously extended lifespans by then? Like thousands of years, there's no physical reason why not...
Just how fucking enormous are we talking about here?

Eh? That's a report for sfdt.com not maglaunch.com

Or even spaceships, heat dissipation can be a major issue with long term presences in space.
Or even better: http://www.maglaunch.com/
