    Its not like dropbox doesn't already have competitors. This really only becomes a problem if Google starts unfairly leveraging its power in the search engine business to squish dropbox, at which point we're in an anticompetition situation.

    From what I can tell, they got the tender, did all the groundwork, then the group they were collaborating with came out with new impossible to achieve specs, backed up by the government, and their subcontractor wandered off to create a competing product.

    What a pity, but it looks like they've been had.

    My understanding is that Russia could trivially overwhelm anything but a completely sky-saturating missile defence, which one defence base isn't. So why the hysterics from the Russians, this isn't useful against anything but rogue states. I'd be more understanding if there were a string of hundreds of them being built.

    Another real problem is when accounts get hacked/USB drives get misplaced/insert data breach here and the whole system is invalidated. And that's if you're even aware of the breach.

    Ahaha, I have a fine collection of games, even spent last weekend downloading OXPs for Oolite on my thumb drive, and I haven't played a one since 2003. Just haven't the time. I think I keep them for nostalgia's sake, fond memories of when I did have the time. Or possibly there's something wrong with me. :D

    They're long dead my friend, even if their dreams and ideals live on. Its up to the people of today to persevere and embody those ideals, and if that's not happening maybe its time to ask why not.

    Politics tends to attract lying hypocrites. Maybe at this stage its a self fulfilling prophecy, everyone thinks politicians are lying greedy people, so only lying greedy people apply for the job. Perhaps if we all started talking about how politicians are upright and honourable it might give them something to aim for.

    This really is exciting, I hope that eventually all of these online education efforts will consolidate into one singel network offering a variety of free and low cost educational options, constantly updated and standardised on an easy to use open format, available to people around the world.

    Its a unique glimpse into a long vanished way of life and people, an ancient culture of which very little if anything survives today. Some of us find every little detail to be quite fascinating, and who knows, maybe we'll be able to put a few more pieces together and build a more complete picture of our ancestors.
