Sounds like Dell wants to finally grow up into a big boy computer company, one that does more than just screw together OEM components for a thin profit margin.
Look at Dell's competitors IBM and HP. They do more than just sell cheap computers to people and businesses. They have chipset architectures in their portfolios (POWER, Alpha, Itanium, etc, etc). They have their own Unix flavours (AIX, HP-UX, etc). This allows them to compete on the super large enterprise levels in ways that Dell could never even dream of, since right now they don't have nearly the right IP to compete in this market. They are probably looking to grow up and get into the Mainframe and high performance computer business that their rivals already posses the technology to compete in.
...in theory. Problem is, the circa-1930s railway infrastructure it runs on is designed for freight traffic, and therefore does not have the level of tolerances necessary for it to be able to go that fast.
Also, won't the oil and automobile subsidiaries in this country - who struck down a plan like this in the 50s in favor of an Interstate System - put up a fight about this?
I'm sorry, I would have loved to read your comment, but I wasn't able to. Comcast had throttled the speed at which your comment loaded, since its content was determined to not be in the best interest of Comcast-NBC. Maybe next time say something about 30rock or Outsourced at the end of your comment so it loads a little faster for me please.
Curiosity is considered plotting for terrorism now, didn't you know that? If you don't believe me, try taking a picture of an Amtrak train pulling into the station without being interrogated by Amtrak Police.
All members of the Nobel Committee have been apprehended by the US government, due to suspicion by the US government that they are aiding in terrorist activities.
Nah, MS uses Team Foundation Server for all of their version control. I have not ever met another single person or company that also uses TFS, nor have I really seen any good documentation on how to use it.
Ehh not that good of an analogy.
Now, if North America was nothing more than a useless ball of dusty iron, and Columbus went there just solely as a dick-waving act toward a person/country he openly hated a whole lot rather than a search for wealth, then maybe your analogy would stand.
Fair amount of FUD. This article essentially states that Armdroid will rise over Wintel on platforms used mostly for the consumption of digital content. Until the day comes where I can use a tablet in place of three or four racks of x86 server clusters, I really don't care who's coming out with how many me-too tablets.
This actually sounds pretty plausible. Remember that Facebook is a company that is valued at more than 50 billion USD, yet pulls in 500 million yearly in revenue. If it turns out that Facebook is a bubble, GS and Zuckerberg might be able to cash out quick before the stock price cashes and burns, and not have to worry about any pesky insider trading or fraud investigations being brought up by the SEC. Remember that the holdings company GS set up for Facebook is registered in a generic foreign island tax haven country.
U.S. schools seem to be designed like prisons with "voluntary" attendance.
Ironic that state prisons and state public schools are usually designed by the same architecture firm...sometimes with the exact same blueprints.

Sounds more like the name of a McAfee marketing campaign.

You had better not track me, OR ELSE!
I don't really think HP-UX, HP's proprietary bastard child of System V and Tru64, can be called "Linux"
So does this mean we can't make DNF jokes about software development timelines anymore?
