  1. Re:I use my PDA on Where is the Killer Calendar? · · Score: 1

Indeed, sticking with the PDA is my choice as well. But, one thing you could try is the GPE project http://gpe.handhelds.org/ which makes a wonderful set of applications including PIM, calendar, to-do lists etc and runs on top of either familiar Linux http://familiar.handhelds.org/ which works on Ipaqs and many other devices or openzaurus http://www.openzaurus.org/ which is, again, Linux-based and works for the popular Sharp Zaurus PDAs. Depending on how much you've spent on your PDA, you may be able to run a 2.6 series kernel or a 2.4 series for devices with less power like my Sharp Zaurus 5500. As a bonus, all GPE apps run natively on x86 Linux so you can run them on your desktop machine too.

You're missing the whole point of Debian, I'm afraid. Let's take a recent analogy: Debian is like the Doom3 of OSs, excellent graphics (awsome stability), crap gameplay (ugly installer). Having said that, check out http://distrowatch.com/ and you'll see that Debian doesn't need more market share. Debian and its clones (e.g. Ubuntu, Knoppix, Mepis and countless others) always rank in the top 5-6 most downloaded distros. Hoping not to drag the game analogy too far, one might say that Debian is like the Quake3 of OSs in that more games are built on top of Quake3 than any other game in the same way as more Linux flavours (some prefer distros) are based on Debaian than anything else.

How about robotic toilets to come next? You take a crap and the toilet goes "Thank you for shitting, have a nice day!"

For an extra few pennies, the toilet analyses your crap and says "dude, you really should eat more fiber, stop drinking alcohol and eat some fruit"

That would be a whole different meaning to "excremental humour"...

It is not necessarily a bad thing that you can't configure everything from the command-line. Many users don't know what a CLI is and some are even scared to open to edit a config option.

Having said that, for the rest of us who do like the power of the command-line, a good CLI would be nice. Not that I would ever consider learning the intricacies of the windows CLI which, I can guarantee you, will be a complete mess for the first couple of versions.

It's much easier to adopt a system like in some Universities in Britain where the examinations office provide standard calculators for all students who need to use one in their exam. This way, the exam setter can make sure noone gets an unfair advantage.
