For those who haven't opened the document yet, this "textbook" was written for the CCNA 640-607 exam which is RETIRED. The current version of the CCNA exam is 640-801 (or the 604-811/821 for the anal retentive). Still its a good start and reference material.
If you just want to use Windows, here is a link to using PPP over serial. I am in the process of setting this up right now as I am in the same boat you are. Why pay $50+ a month for a phone line when I can just use my mobile.
In the Xbox TOS they have Section 7 which is dedicated to stopping modded Xbox's:

All they did was take the pop-up, and move it to the back....its more like taking and changing the lightbulb and fixture so that you have to turn it clockwise to put it in to counter-clockwise.

Guess everyone should have realized that big buisness isn't going to just hand over all music rights to the Internet so maybe we just need to find a way to live together...

All I can say is, at least the hour I took out of my day to browse and talk to the the few vendors wasn't wasted...at least I got a couple of free t-shirts....
