What ? No bluetooth when even my phone has it ? No wifi either ? How can it be portable if it's dependant on wires ? What's its autonomy ???
No way I'd acquire such a crap : I had less good reasons to sell my Zaurus.

Panurgism is the reaction to an ever repeating tired joke: The fact is that I am not interested anymore, I just do not believe what they kept repeating while postponing their product.
Especially when Apple allowed companies such as Belkin to bring their own accessories to enhance the iPod experience. I just checked my IPod, and despite around 19200 killers, it's still, alive, well, and it sounds damn good:)
The tests leave no doubt that the sharper screen and faster processor on the X50v can eat into its battery life. However, I also ran another test, this time optimistically, designed to find out what the maximum battery life of the X50v is. I turned the screen to the minimum level of brightness--which is actually still quite bright--and left the processor mostly idle, as it would be for simple tasks like reading, typing, and PIM.
X50v maximum life: Approximately 8 hours, 30 minutes
My first "modern" PDA was a Palm III, it had 4 weeks autonomy, 2 when playing SimCity in Black and White. I really loved it but it eventually fell one time too much. I also had a Zaurus SL5500 which autonomy was even more pathetic than its sluggishness. Now, all the other PDA I saw hardly have more than a working day autonomy, I think this is not good as this does not even make these suitable for camping or for long travels... Besides the Tungsten C, I am not sure I want a PDA. But it only caus' it's got a keyboard and wifi.
Your comment actually drew me to some conclusion : if it's cool to have punctual storage units that "huge", I think I'd like better some distributed secure raid over ip devices because I still think it's not the size that matters but it's the interaction and the evolutivity.
I remember it, it happened to be available in non English speaking countries and it was the only generalist computer related magazine to feature ARM/Acorn/RiscOS stuff on their cover CD. If they start getting rid of what made them special, then I guess it's because their time is over.
It does in some ways : we can suspect that the concept is accepted but still requires realisation. I guess it'll imply some switches set in send only mode along with possible dial limitations (in France, emergency numbers begin with 1, the others begin with 0).
Yes, but if you were a corporation, you'd establish a failure ratio, then, regarding the guarantee that a dedicated system manufacturer would offer, you'd probably go for this one anyway. Why ? Imagine you are the owner of a supertanker fleet and they all use GPS to navigate. Now, if one of these sinks at Valdez of in Bretagne, you'd have a hard time explaining to a judge how responsible you were not if you went for a self hacked system. The same could apply for trekkers who could get lost because of a dysfunction. BTW, I had a Zaurus and its battery life is just too low to make it OK for a GPS enabled trek. And despite this, I'd love tosee Linux go mainstream but this'll have to be distributed through a commercial channel otherwise it won't be able to finance itself.
Locals say it is notorious for killing fully-grown adult lions.
IT's new, but already notorious... and it's been slashdotted as well.
On a more serious basis, why don't the "new scientists" directly ask the locals about the species they know, I am sure they'd find out many things instead of just tracking these on their own.
If "95% of the music retailers have failed", it could be because of foreign concurrence or simply because there were 20 x too many of them. anyway, the FUD part of this announcement should also be considered. I know which conclusions people want us to draw.
When I had an AlBook, I used thisSamsonite Avior Laptop Backpack which was both classy and functional. I since traded it for a Powermac otherwise I'd have kept it. But I admit it's a bit other the 50 bucks the story submitter mentioned.
It would have been nice if one of ther providfers had asked for some accurate details concerning the involved work... But no : they just agreed that if somebody contested its presence, it had to be unlegitimate...
Bells and Whistles... I'd say the apps. Compare what you get on Linux and what you get on a Mac: Interface builder, ms office (for Mac), Flash... Last I checked one could still wait to get a decent audio midi program.
Well, Diamond is carbon so I guess it was not the most efficient way to compact it, or maybe it it takes 10000 years to coal to become diamond maybe it'd take 10 times more to diamond to achieve this new configuration ?
Once you're under Windows, you want the Linux hackability, once you are on Linux, you miss the bells and whistles, since I switched, I got both and I am happy:)

Exactly, it's not the first time they discuss such new iPods, they actually overhyped some similarly featured iPod as soon as Spring 2004 but they had to admit they were wrong. I don't think Apple will do it, because it's just not convenient to use a 2 inch lcd screen to see photos that have been most probably taken on a dig camera with a dedicated similarly large screen... Anyway, if Apple does such a device, I guess it'll more and more look like the PDA Newton lovers have been expecting for years... I suggest somebody asks Belkin or any other iPod accessories manufacturer whether they plan to create an iPod char input device...

Yep, it'd be ethically questionable but it'd work better than copying a good idea and ripping its basics out in order to keep the bloat only.
