I see that the word "Free" doesn't appear in this story's synopsys. How would Alan apply his quality methods to projects which member might never meet due to geographical contingencies ?
The i86 architecture is dying and Intel could not release decent 64 bit proc at time, so, they'll have to rely on the Xscale processors which are, after all, ARM compatible. As the ARM has had the hugest sales in the world during the last years (not on the desktopm, but everywhere else), this'd just imply that Intel will keep its domination but outside the PC market.
IIIRC, a few months ago, Microsoft got to pay their fine in computer and software equipment for the above mentioned educational structures, now, if these get their technological fundings cut, then it means that Microsoft might have to pay in cash.
Future MPAA mails will begin with some harsh accusations and end with some disclaimer in the fine print, thus making it even more surrealistic. I can imagine it:
Dear xxxx We ave strong reasons to believe you are infringing our members' copyright, please cease and desist.
Yours.. erm : Ours...
PS: Of course, it's also possible that our victim file got messed up by one of our million monkeys in which case you might disregard this mail.
It should be taken as an opportunity to just consider if it's better to let corporations patent smell or not to : I mean that if it doesn't prevent them from making money on smells, then why should they patent these ? Because they're about to make smells 100% reproductible ? In the latter case, though I do not agree with the whole patenting system, I might agree that some would like their "smell" to be protected from this 100% perfect-clonability... even though I guess there's a chemical involved from which the smell originates and which could be patented without changing a word in the patent office charter.
Via also made the EPIA processors which are mostly used in their barebones computers. I have one at home which I use as a Linux server and it reached 400 days uptime before I had to reboot it because of a Linux ethernet driver failure. So, I'd say VIA might be technically good if you keep using their products only.
I second the use of an old laptop as a web server. Using BSD, it's fast enough and there's not only the advantage of using a compact platform but also the fact that even with an old battery this also benefits as a poor man's UPS...
It's Anheuser-Busch, not "Bush", unlike published by the editors.
They are the one that make Budweizer and they suggest this very beer will have a "wow" taste... I wonder what they think of the "King of beers" taste... (I am an Horropean)
2 words : Doom 3
more words : Doom , then quake made the public update.
I have no doubt Doom 3 will also influence hardware obsolescence.

What about Red HAt, SuSe and others who may distribute Open Source program while being accountable according to your definition ?
And a telefrag, please : I want the baddy to look like Jar Jar Binks and to die telefragged :)
Because if they do, I guess they'll might become as credible as them...

OK, so it's a global solution, what are their specs ?
Do the player take the machines home after the contest ?
So what are the specs of the machines ?
Do the players have to bring theirs or is it considered fairer to have them all use the same ?
I can imagine it

I'd vote for BJ Blazkowicz because I am supposed to be him when I shoot people in the Wolfenstein Castle.
I guess this one very feature might begin to frighten Microsoft : it's remained their most private app for a long time...

As we recently heard about China'0s adopting their own chips and software, could it be the world version of the Chinese standard processor ?
Not richer : they are forcing MS to lower their prices, so MS makes less money and the shareholders are angrier as the share price drops...

Hence my question, will this "accident" lead to unvoluntary yet interesting further coincidences ???
Plan 9 was supposed to go even further than Unix went, does it really looks like to you that it's been conceived according to a similar approach ???
I guess we are on our way to finding global laws for everything :)
I hope you get upmodded as it was the very kind of answer I was expecting :)
Since they had been bought by SGI, I've actually been wondering whether they would make me dream again.
Coffee is an acquired taste, so is beer, I guess one will have to learn to enjoy this beverage...
