Dion and JH are SACEM members, that's all. Now, I don't care being modded down, this has now relation to my intrinsec personal value. Now, if you emit such comment, you may enjoy karma whoring more than me;-)
Do not doubt it : it is a known fact in France that the money the SACEM collect from the blank cdr sales goes to Celine Dion, Johnny Halliday and some others top10 singers'producers (once the SACEM collects its fee, of course). Had they given the benefits to the least earning artists I'd have agreed to buy my CDRs there...
If the guy tell the fbi his laptop got stolen, he may laos have given them some info about a recent internet connection which would have allowed them to find his mac address which was then looked for in some isps' logs until they found out who did it. I guess it's more optimal for the fbi to do it this way than to just store whichever information thanks to some software backdoors. we have some reasons to worry about our Freedoms but it is not a reason to imagine we're always being spied on.
Why is this flamebait ? I personally got this as irony : the Internet indeed originally spread in the USA but it's a pity that all of its ethical shortcomings also crossed boundaries : why couldn't people realise that most users actually buy what they consider worth the cost whereas dumping all the shitty mp3/divx ?
No. It's not, this is just preemptive, this is in case of : if you accept the tax, then you reckon you are a thief and you obviously have to accept further investigation in order to complement your "subscription fee"... In France, they had a similar problem : every blank CDR's price include royalties for the musical industries as they consider these media may only be used in order to copy copyrighted music. The money only goes to a handful of famous "singers". Now, if you only need CDR to backup stuff, then you're fucked. What's next, the MPAA will also ask for royalties ? Then I will (I just have to find a reason which will prove that people may use anything I invented without my consent).
Yep, but not only Britney's. That's the reason why I created GNUArt.net, in order to give most artistss i know the opportunity to share music or Art they once created instead of dumping their old tapes or photos...
Of course, this may die if noone helps but I'll have at leat made these last a little more, and eventuallly given these the opportunity to be reworked by others...
the market is already crowded with... Exactly, there also exists such a service in Switzerland but it is quite expensive, especially when you can get a 2Mb/s cable for the same price as 512kb/s DSL... I guess this'll take some time to penetrate the market.
I do not read SCO nor MS story, except when they announce new stuff. The longhorn stories were interesting, after all.
But well, yeah, things happen my side of the Ocean : for example, Swiss people won the America Cup in 2003, which is... wow, especially for such a tiny mountain nation !
Not exactly : if the main topic of this story had been YRO, I'd have avoided it as I do not care about issues which mostly happen over the Atlantic Ocean.
Now, the topic was Apple, hence the expectation. I do not exactly stand as a fan boy, Or maybe am I emphatical about most thing I will editorialize...:)
Do you label every one you read about ? Nope, I am not a fanboy, I am an agnostic (I used and programed computer for 22 years) : Win for games, Mac for Art, Acorn for hack, Linux for my PDA, BSD for my secure boxes, NeXT for the nostalgy... Etc.
Start your own site and stop visiting this one. this is quite manichean.. If I am here, it's obviously for some reason, be it some interesting stuff, or for the happy "trolling" (I read at -1 and most posts are hilarious, due to the context, of course). Now, I also direct many other communities whose members I may direct here as well as whose members'comments I could forward here.
Now, there's no "love it or live it". From my point of view (the beautiful Swiss mountains), I am not in America. So, my concept is : if you do not like it and you cannot destroy it, then help making it better. I guess this is more constructive than your plotless rethorical speeches, Mrs Anny Nomous.
The cheapest machine I ever owned was an Acorn RiscPC : 6'% more expensive than other PC but I kept it almost 10 years and I still have it.. I consider Macs are long-term investments... Worth the extra costs.
BTW,/. just rejected the following submission: Apple just released a new 20 inch TFT iMac (other specs remain close to the existing 17 inch model. They also released a new bi-1.8GHz G5 Powermac.
This is whhat I called "innovation" : a cheap but powerful iMac with a 20" inch screen.
I recently saw many Apple bashing articles such as this one, the one about using iTunes windows with old OSX only iPods, etc. I think it's becoming almost annoying as the omnipresent MS-bashing articles. Please, post about innovations, not about such idiocies, otherwise it doesn't matter.
Some kids recently asked me about these laws. They especially wanted to know why these are bad. I showed theman FBI warning, at the beginning of a DVD : 250k$ fine for bringing a DVD to the classroom... All of a sudden, they agreed it is somehow disproportionate. What becomes even worse is that the companies themselves can decide your punition and if you may pre-emptively pay to avoid it (litigation). So, if it's a law, why is it enforced by corps, not by citizens ?
They have very few to catch consumers this time : when the CD was out, they argued the quality was better and so on. Now, we all have CDs which is an uncompressed, perfect 16bit copy of music. As of yet, most people are really happy with their CDs because the recorded stuff is in stereo (originally, so there's very few interest converting it to 5.1) and they won't easily differentiate their 16 vs 24bit resolutions so, it will be damn' hard to sell them something new.
The most hilarious bit is that you refer to a Discman which is a Sony Trademark... So, if what they sold you is not compatible with... erm, what they sold you too, then you might want to get a refund.:)
it depends on your location : in Europe this is unthinkable (except in England).

well, for the ones who ignore it, "caca" is the word for "shit"...
I am not sure whether such autoderision is appropriate...
I don't mind the humor, it's just that I do not seriously think this'll help this lib's author deploying his product.
3. If you steal a Linux PC, install Windows on it for a year, then switch back - even AOL can't maintain that big a log!
Do you mean there is an AOL client for Linux ?
(this is a question, I expect an informationn, not some lol rotfl or some modding)

In mine, they agreed to add : GPL'ed creations should remain as such.

However I just wonder : if it's supposed to be in Japan, why isn't there any Japanese book ?

Truely hilarious
