Given the way that many parents seem to act towards their children here in the UK (and I suspect that the same applies in most English-speaking nations), then they are almost certainly correct. That doesn't mean it's 'better' as the parents should show far more responsibility. When I walk round the shops and hear parents shouting at their pre-teens, calling them "little shits", saying things like "fucking get here" etc etc - I wonder what sort of example they are setting to the next generation. These are the same parents who will then proceed to blame the government, teachers and society as a whole when their little darlings go off-the-rails in their teens.

Do you doubt for a second that the government can do a better job of parenting than most of the parents?

I think the problem is not that the lawmakers think all Australians are "little kids who cannot handle mature video game content". It's more likely that they realise that a lot of parents will buy this game for their children and the lawmakers are actually worried that little kids are "little kids who cannot handle mature video game content".

Actually, English IS my first language - mainly because I'm English, from England. I didn't know what 'Whole Foods' was, but now assume it's a posh food shop in the US. I, stupidly, assumed that a blackberry fruit was the same the world over, but you've obviously got some weird, probably GM, version over the pond. So, my bad for not realising that, but as for the euphemism - 'Blackberry' has also been used before over here. AFAIK even if you chose to install one of the other browsers, IE still ends up being installed on your computer, but it may not be the default. Firing up certain applications within the Windoze environment (nope, can't name them at the moment as I try to stay away from M$ when I can) still bring the IE engine online for their requisite web component. Windows update still keeps throwing IE in the update list and if you're not switched on it will be installed automatically. There is still a lot of bias towards IE in my opinion and I personally feel that IE should not even be allowed to be included on any M$ O/S distribution media - when you first fire up a new O/S you should be presented with a choice window for which you wish to install (with the browsers listed in order according to user reviews or similar, rather than just "Let's put IE first, then FireFox, then Chrome, then who really cares as most users won't look past that point. No - I'm not a M$ Hate Bunny, just personally don't like using their products if I can possibly avoid it. I'd rather pay to subsidize Linux development (via donations as I see fit) than put money in Bill's pocket.
