It seems the harder you work the lower you are paid. It all has to do with supply and demand. Employers will treat you like crap if anyone is willing to do it and accept the pay. Then why not? Do it to someone who is valuable and middle level with a degree and experience then you can't use that crap as you would no longer have a middle managment left.
It seems the big guys treat all lower end employees like this. We are machines and until you are promoted. Its no respect at all and they think we just do basic human labor as quickly as possible until we are more valuable and promoted.

Unix like Windows was written in C with parts of c++ scattered here and there with userspace apps. Buffer overflows galore are everywhere.
Even MacOS (not Macosx) was more secure for the reason that it did bounds checking on types. Add to that the fact that x86 can not tell the difference between cache stored for ram and cache stored for applications where you can just point to where a program is stored for execution and you have a nightmare on yoru hands.

Linux support and a companies reputation. ATI has made some lousy drivers and products in the past. However I find nvidia to be falling behind and both their linux and windows drivers are not stable. I had to downgrade to an older Windows HCL certified driver for my geforce 6600 for windows. Strange things kept happening. SuSE has a big warning on drivers too.
ATI now makes cards that are faster and have better effects and visuals than NVidia's while their drivers are improving. Even on Linux they are getting decent.
This is why people buy on loyality and I wished I purchased an ATI instead a few months ago.

Its like nothing is fast enough. After reading about the trillion or so polygons for unreal3 or whatever its going to be called, I need a new card. The graphics are stunning and I wonder if even the x1900 will be able to handle it?

4 megs of ram went 4x in price for 6 months after windows95 was released. Prices went up rather than down which is normal for computers.
