That should be illegal. If they were free or were less of them then Bernie would have gotten a chance. He is too liberal for me but I would have voted for him over Trump and so would millions of others and Trump would be whining back home in his towers.

The question is like an alcoholic will Democrats admit there is a problem and change or not?

Corruption SUCKS! The fact that I am now finding out that foreign countries are donating to Clinton scares me as much as the Russians helping Trump. That should be treason and alone for Hillary not to run.

Hell, try to BUILD it. The motherboard manufacturers play jenga with individual models and what ports are where, so even though there's a PC Standard it takes hours of research to build a system that doesn't have random bottlenecks if you're going to be doing massive-media manipulation like video editing.

So does the new MacBook tromp most Windows PCs you can buy or build? You betcha it can, that's no surprise at all. Even those with significantly higher spec 'parts' when the underlying motherboard cripples everything so it can't live up to those specs.

    Yawn

That was true with Haswell in what 2013?! The Broadwell E and Skylake-E and maybe even Skylake has plenty of lanes, USB 3, and Thunderbolt/USB type C. As Apple added these so did Intel for the PC. Infact Intel invented it!! No you did not need a $600 workstation grade Xeon chipset either. A regular Skylake has it all and can do exactly what you described. True a junk HP will not, but neither will the cheapest macs either. Any $150 or up Asus or Gigabyte board or Dell Precision Workstation will all of these

The only thing the Apple users have correct in which I give credit is PC screens SUCK! IPS is almost non existent so the colors and gamma do not look the same at different angles and the calibration SUCKS. if you are viewing a screen from a coworker you are seeing something different.

Now there are expensive ok screens for the PC that cost hundreds which I highly recommend for any engineer, salesperson (to show stuff to clients), and video artists. But, none for the laptops.

Actually the MS Surface is IPS and the closest to Mac quality I see.

Windows historically before Windows 7 didn't offer Adobe color monitor profiles either. The WindowsXP lovers drove me nuts over this when they still used Photoshop on their old pcs :-) It also is why the Gimp is no photoshop and Linux is no replacement for Windows/macOSX for these users either.

But, that is it these days. The mac pro in 2013 did have freaking amazing professional graphics cards but you could get that on a workstation class PC. If laptop makers make decent screens then it is all over the Apple lovers out there. The graphics at the mac pro are sooo laughable and 2010 era in performance it makes me wonder why Apple even bothered and just stuck with Intel integrated graphics? They screwed up big time and tried to make the Macbook Pro an iphone. It is not a phone folks! We got the air for these teenagers who do light work and Twitter all day.

I don't know about the rest of slashdot readers, but from my point of view, Chrome is a great browser for apathetic users who don't have very sophisticated expectations in terms of extensibility and privacy features. With Firefox you have a much richer selection of add-ons and other niceties like, for instance, the ability to synchronize your data to your own server, rather than being entirely dependent on someone's so-called "cloud". Whereas Mozilla remains committed to a decentralized web, Google has managed to progressively blur the lines between browser and web property.

I suppose Chrome is not as horrific as whatever Facebook might come up with if they ever decided to make a browser, but that's not saying much for Chrome. I'm a user of many Google products, but when it comes to browsers I'll be sticking with the content-neutral product that prioritizes my freedom and privacy - Firefox!

    Well everyone is different.

To me I want a fast browser that is secure and takes advantage of my hardware and syncs up everything with all platforms. Chrome is it! Both modern IE and Chrome use threading per tab which means under Windows it uses c"\users\%appdata\lowrights. It is sandboxed at the kernel level! It also means my i7 can utilize all my cores with both browsers by MS and Google.

Firefox keeps getting hacked as a result and I do not want to run workarounds for this architectural limit with sandboxie. I just want something to work and have no radical changes.

When I need more functionality I use an app. If I want a browser I pick Chrome. Firefox lost me at 4.0. Remember that release? AWFULL. Worse was the versions that kept breaking everything. I just wanted one version for 2 years. IE 9 came out which no longer required hacks and had full hardware acceleration and smooth scrool. I was hooked in 2011 and started using IE 11 and then Chrome by the end of the year.

Well I haven't used Firefox since except for special occasions and I am reminded each time how a modern browser is so much nicer. The next version of Firefox will be at 2008 level technology soon of Chrome 1.0 and IE 8 with electrosys where I can get a real sandbox and threading and process isolation for security.

Chrome is what Phoenix was to Mozilla today.

    Sigh

Firefox I guess. The good news is with electrosys it has caught up to 2009 IE 8 and Chrome 1.0 in terms of security by using lowrights in c:\users\%appdata and threading per process which is nice if you have more than 1 cpu core which is everyone but grandma here in 2016.

But it is too little too late for me personally to use Firefox again, but try it as the newer versions supposed to be caught up.

Edge gives me subscription errors with AdBlock and crashes when I loaded it. It feels alpha quality and made for phones. Not pcs. IE 11 is still part of 10. I replaced edge and put an IE icon on the taskbar to test things.

X-UA-Compatible Css tag will save us for awhile until IE 11 becomes too out of date. I refuse to test on Edge
