Dell's assets include much more than desktops/latops/servers. For instance, a couple years ago they bought SecureWorks, an MSSP that Gartner positions above Verizon, IBM, and Symantec. They have made many other acquisitions in recent years. From the article, Dell has net $5 billion in cash. I don't think Dell as a company is going anywhere, public or private. Maybe they'll pull an IBM and only sell of the PC side of the house.
Hmm, I've had my Uverse Internet for 5 months, and it's dropped 3 times. Each time required an AT&T tech to come to my house for the fix. One of the fixes took 3 techs over the space of two days. Installation took 3 weeks. That's not reliable to me. Just my anecdotal experience. It's not the technology that's unreliable, it's the carrier.
But mostly item 3 - it's not the OS security they are worried about. It's information security, like Excel spreasheets with financial data or customer lists leaving the network without being tracked. This information can be transfered with Dropbox on Windows or Linux, unless it is blocked at the firewall. Any cloud-type storage can do this, and that is why these services are being blocked. Only company-approved services to which the corporation has access to transmission logs are typically approved. It doesn't matter what OS is running.
Putting scriptures on an tablet/phone is just the beginning (no, not the beginning in Genesis 1:1). The faith to which I subscribe uses the web for record keeping, congregation member and leadership directories, calendaring, live video streaming of worldwide services, social networking, etc. (www.lds.org) It also uses crowd sourcing for various projects. Most articles on our website contain posting links to Facebook, g+, Delicious, and Twitter. We have a YouTube channel. We even have a site dedicated to technology projects with active users who are both professionals (paid) and volunteers - tech.lds.org. In relation to the article, our canon of scripture, as well as monthly magazines and teaching manuals, have been published on iPhone/Pad, Android, BlackBerry, Palm, WP7, and webOS. *steps down from soapbox*
Religion, just like any other organization, has a lot to gain from using technology wisely.
TFA indicates that BCWipe was used to clean the infected hard drives. Although available on UNIX and Linux, most of BCWipe's features are targeted at Windows. This indicates the computers used by pilots to fly the drones are running Windows.
Seems a lot more touch UI friendly. I'm guessing this was the primary reason for going with the Ribbon. Also, although the Ribbon takes up more vertical space, the huge details bar at the bottom has been dropped in favor of a details panel on the right side, which gives a net-positive screen space usage for the Ribbon.
I wonder what would happen if those furloughed employees came to work anyway, under the assumption that they would not get paid for their time. I know other expenses exist (utilities, etc.), but the big chunk of expenses in any organization is salaries and wages. I wouldn't expect something like this to go on for more than a week or so, but would it not send a message to Congress that they are not all-powerful and that people actually care about this country?
Unfortunately, Utah politicians have spent way too much time on low-priority bills like this. There are so many more important things than designating an official state gun or how a bicyclist should legally stop at a stop sign. A utopia Utah is not. Two things that come to mind we need help with are education spending (in the bottom 5 states of dollars spent per child) and bankruptcy (in the top 10 states).
The corporate world is where the $$ is at and McAfee has a huge presence there. They offer just about everything along the computer security spectrum - firewall, endpoint protection, whole disk encryption, NAC, IPS, comliance services, blah, blah, on and on. I'm not saying they are the best, but they are big.

McAfee also owns Foundstone, who brought us the great Attacker, FPort, SuperScan, and other tools to facilitate and protect against hacking!
