    God, I like FreeBSD (maybe even a bit more than I like Linux, in fact), and I use it in both my gateway and my laptop, but looking at some of its supporters, maybe they should rename it FreeBSE and be done with it...

    I really expected better from the user base than a bad case of Linux Envy...

    You may be amused to find out the makers of Microsoft Bob moved on to make Half-Life...

    I got into a flamewar with some of them regarding their dropping of the console from the main interface. They made it a command line option, but at least, they didn't penalize players who wanted a console (as was the initial plan). Not that I'm claiming credit for their change of heart... :)

    Actually, given the relative size of the sun as seen from Jupiter, it was probably a more than total eclipse. The Earth is the only planet for which the relative sizes of moon and Sun are identical, but you can bet anything than from, say, Pluto, the relative size of Charon is much bigger than the relative size of the Sun...

    Nah... The book has too many bloody unlikely coincidences (an abandoned library? An abandoned tinkerer cart? Yeah right), and Mrs. Frisby is too, well, mousey, sitting around waiting to be rescued.

    The movie has got the questionable magic stuff, but Brisby kicks more ass in there than in the book.

    Good user interfaces can improve productivity. The Windows user interface is just about the most useless I've seen in my life. The SGI UI is the best I've used so far, followed by the Mac. KDE suffers from trying to look like Windows.

    I don't know what experience you have on UNIX boxen, but I've used both UNIX workstations and NT workstations, and I can tell you you are full of shit. NT is a productivity destroyer, as the Windows interface just isn't designed to get work done. It may have been designed not to scare Joe Blow, with the dancing paperclips and the flying sheets of paper, but it certainly hasn't been designed to let people do what they want to do.

    Hell, even the bloody Macintosh is better in that respect, because at least it has a good graphical interface. Windows is just an ugly, unholy mess built on top of an unstable kernel.
