The "real" nanotech that is advertised is just a few steps below magic. We already have industries using "nano" tech, but we don't have near the control or volume we really want. We want to control every atom, we aren't there yet. I'll be happy for just the incremental advances made on the way there.
Hey, it could be BayWatch in space where the evil villians are the SuperModel Women. They just need 2 or 3 episodes where the "female evil villian supermodel killer" falls madly in love with their "Scotty" character, and it will get the geeks watching.
I think that the government should make all human driven vechiles outlawed. The cars should drive you from point A to point B and decide on the safest course and speed there. You shouldn't even have to pay any car insurance other than theft because it is all on the car manufactur if it has an accident. Humans don't make good drivers. We get drive drunk, drive while talking on the phone, drive while talking/yelling at the kids in the back sit, drive while eating, drive while nearly falling asleep, drive while shaving, drive while putting on make up, and drive while looking for something in the passanger floor board. Human driving should be made illegal now! There are thousands of deaths a year because of this. We should sue the goverment for allowing the population to drive vechiles when it is proven to be unsafe.
IF I want to drink or eat or make out with my wife in my car, I should be able to do that at any time while going from point A to point B. I shouldn't have to drive a damn vechile. All I care about is getting from point A to point B.
Those secret societies that covertly control both parties already have the settings for an American Dictator. For PR purposes though the word dictator is bad and must be have the political correct term of "democratically elected president." Either party was going to led to a controled offical that would please the party for re-election while honestly thinking that they are improving the country.

Uh, it is a statement on 95% of the population. The only way we will ever get AI to the human level is to completely dumb down the level of human to the state of the average level of AI's. It might take another 50 years or so, but one way or another we will get there!
It would be nice if there was one nice big OSS journal that could handle every type of science field not just one or 2 very related fields. Could you imagine if some one could adapt source control for your average scientist that they could submit all their work and have everything documented and have other verified scientists reviewing the results and also adding to on going research.

I could see full criminal histories for everyone arrested and/or convicted for "any" offenses including offending police officers. It will be abused. I can see month long classes for every police officer and data entry clerk that works with NCIC data. I can also see abuses happening fairly easily. Could you see "domestic volience" addresses pop up? I can. I also know that dom. vol. can be just about any type of disagreement between family members with police involvment.
Could you see people being sent to homes from not just the government, but also chruch groups and oh places of employment. How about DWI information? If every offense of that type was "out there" for "the public" to hate?

A hot key that instantly removes all applied themes and restores the desktop to a standard desktop would be an innovation. I hate themes. It is very annoying trying to help a user when every application on the desktop is "customized" to the users taste. If you could hit a key to return the desktop back to "default." I would be thrilled to death if I could press that magic key to get the desktop looking normal to show them how the proper way to do things are. Then press it to restore their special user options.
This one little computer is small and efficent and all the waste heat easily taken care of. Now imagine not just one of these, but a whole building of these. Our heat problem crops right back up.

Actually, I don't really think these Grand Master vs Chess Computer matchs mean anything. I think that each one of those super chess computers should be forced to earn a rank of grand master before having the match really count. Just because a machine can win a match or to against one master doesn't make it a master until it can beat many other masters and students... and teach students how to play the game.

I have not liked any of the "heros" lately. I didn't really like Spira. I wanted Sin to destory them, or atleast their entire social structure. I related the best to the Albed, and I didn't really care for how they were shown. The only folks that liked machines wore dorks and CID. CID , they, they made him bald! They really really need to do honor for the CID name better than that last CID.
One day we might finally be able to play a chocobo as a playable character... Nah, no chance at all unless they may it a stupid minigame that we have to spend 2 or 3 weeks playing to get some rather worthless items. I really really shouldn't buy that next FF, but you know that I will.
You have to give MS credit. IF they spend the PR money and repeat it long enough, the average Joe will start to think MS did it first and was innovated by it. They just have to repeat the message until it sticks or they run out of money...
What Koren Digital Divide? By the time they finish this they will offically be the only "net" nation. US doesn't count because although everyone could afford it, It isn't used. In Korea, it is a lifestyle. It has been changing their social structures. I will have in the US, but not until after Korea has become whatever they are becoming.
