Let's see. If we can use a small amount to power an engine and blow stuff up, I envision us having a small arms race to build a huge stealth swarm of bomb/WMD watchers to hover over the heads of those we don't like. Think AA sized battery with the energy content to fly from the US to any spot on the globe then over most of the year there. With a pay load of 2-4 D sized battery's that could cleanly wipe out New York delivered with GPS pin point accuracy and the video feed would be streamed straight to the major news outlets.

I can't wait. We can already build everything except the small power source. Small long lived power sources have just as many civilian uses as well.

Does Sony do that if your PS2 is out of warranty? My was having that problem. The main reason that I didn't just exchange was lack of receipt. I hate those little pieces of paper that vanish when I need them. I originally got my PS2 for PS1 & DVD combo use. When I started having disc read errors, I just bought a cheap $40 DVD player. The required complexity of a "game" to train doctors would tend to make it not fun. I think the same could also be said for games designed to guide many other professionals.

I've read a few more posts along these lines. I think that you are under estimating game designers. I wouldn't want to in compass all of a "professional" field in a game it wouldn't work. Here are a few ideas that could work.
    1. A basic first aid game with characters that are similar to the sims, must include Male/Female and age groups of infant, small child, young teenager, older teenager, "adult", and senior. The game should be designed to teach first aid and lesser known medical pracises to the general public. Think having a Sims room and a "senior" Sim has a heart attack. What do you do other than just call 911?
    2. Guess the illness. This could be intended for doctors or the general public. The key thing is to provide a good 100-200 possible patients to show up with various minor medical problems/ or no medical problems but just aches and pain. I'd envision this game if aimed properly at the general public could teach parents when a child is "faking" illness, or has any of the various childerns illnesses like chicken pox.
    3. You could have a Sim Doctor's office that is more similar to the Sims, but deals with the money factor of how small to very large hospitals are run.
    4. And you could have "operation" type games. A game for the general public could be funnier, but I really won't want to stress teaching anything of operations to the general public. I'd want a some what realistic model with accurate responses for med. students only.

Which then boils down to whether you prefer to call it 'popular vote' or 'mob rule.'

That's easy it's 'mob rule' when every one votes against my views. Its a 'popular vote' if what I happen to be believe is supported. We are a republic. We have never been democracy. I don't directly vote for Supreme Court Judges, the President, or all the positions the President appoints. That's why we are a republic. I couldn't afford to spend the needed time and effort to learn about everyone and make good valid decisions. Those in elected position have to spend that time learning about judges and government middle managers that most people have never heard of.
