i'm not much up on the issues myself, but on the surface, it seems that embryonic stem cells can be entirely manufactured in a labrotory (with sperm/egg donations). whereas, the cord cells requires a pregnant female to obtain the cells from. which is cheeper, better, who knows.
1. you sign out the thing, and when signing it out, if you notice damage of that sort, you refuse to take it. the last person to sign it out is responsible. it is locked between signouts. perhaps inspected between signouts by cameras for proof.
2. lock them when not in use, keep out unable people.
3. send another "thing" out to pick up the people and take them where the're going and with someone to frix the problem.
have you looked at what google is running their business on? a monster cluster of linux boxes. they've got so many they just leave the broken ones there too. at anyone time i've heard they have 1000 broken machines in their cluster/system. when one breaks the system just stops using it. so, yeah, someone seems to have figured out how to have the "machines" fine tune and configure themselves.
i use to be that way, then i go to spending too much time in the stores. now it's not worth it to save 3$ to run to store #2 where i'll probably end up buying 10 things i don't need. lack of dicipline. i mainly shop at meijer these days where there is no card yet.
actually, most of the stuff you get discounts with your card for are loss leaders or near loss leaders. they're sold well under normal profit margins in order to intice buyers into the place to also buy other items with higher profit margins. yes, the non sale items probably have higher than expected profit margins to help average it out.
those commercials are currently part of the business model. someday maybe there'll be no commercials on the shows, but you'll end up paying 5 times what your current cable bill is, probably more.
stars, stripes, whatever. spending our tax money keeping troups (many perhaps are reservists) deployed costs big dollars. keep them productive or bring them home so they can try to find jobs here like the rest of us.
regarding americans dying in the prision. maybe it's not "in" the prision itself. i heard reports from family why was deployed at one time to the prision that a medic they knew while at the prison had died from incidental shrapnal or what not. maybe the americans get sent home to die if possible.
(and officially became a non-story on November 2, 2004)
maybe the mass media isn't covering the prision over there in the sandy beach, but it's not all quiet, and definately deserves attention of those not deployed over there.
americans are still dying every day in that prision (which is controled by the americans). american troops are deployed in and around that prision sometimes for months at a time with no productive mission other than to be deployed so a general or such can get another stripe on their shirt. this is what our tax dollars are being used for.
there's units that have their own cooks but can't use them due to contracts with another food supply "company". what are these cooks doing? not a damn thing. there's people who are budgeted for a years deployment, but have replacements aready there. what happens to these troops? they get re-deployed to another closer area. these aren't the full time troops either, these are the reservists who are being forced to sit on their arse in the desert.
by the way, there's policy in abu-grabib now that photos MUST have faces digitally distorted. meaning if a solder takes a photo of someone who's leg has been blown off, make sure there's no face in the picture. i'm not even sure if they're aloud to send photos out w/o permission these days.
sign up folks, it's in the name of democracy after all.
that is an interesting project, but it seems similar to the gnu java stuff (actually it seems to perhaps use their stuff). it's not complete, and it's quite a few major version behind the current.
kinda like the openejb container. the current version supports ejb 1.1. i know they're working with the geronimo folks to get 2.0 certified with the whole geronimo project, but even that will be dated when it happens. someday, it might turn into something like mozilla which is functional, usable and can keep ahead of the competition.
the libraries is harder to put together than the jvm? i would still think ibm would be able to pull that off. and if they're not willing to do it why call on sun to do it. it makes no sense.
compatability, sure, but once you start to use ibm's theoretical open source free jvm/jre, you'll use it accross all platforms. hell, vendors would adopt it because it would probably make it simpler to licnese change and allow them to distribute a jvm/jre their product works best with (bea/oracle).
my point is that sun should have no obligation to release their source code or license it any more liberally than they already do. ibm has no business calling sun to open source java. sun should license openly and freely the tck's or test suites which allows one to be called a jvm/jre/jdk,etc. all the compatability suites should be open and freely available.
both ibm and sun give tremendous amounts of code to the os community. stop fighting folks and lets start developing systems.
wasn't it ibm who asked sun to open source the java a bit? i don't get why ibm wouldn't release an open source jdk/jre if they think it's important. hell, they're accustom to giving sun the fingered salute (swt) from time to time.
vote challengers have been barred here in ohio. many news reporters signed up to be vote challengers just so they could be there to get the "scoup" since the voting poles indicated that they will be very strict as to who will be aloud in the poling palces.
i've been offered so many rides to the pole this weekend, i've lost count.
come on now. i'd like to see some benchmarks showing that just changing the processor type/family in the kernel config is going to boost performance?
i'm also under the impression that most distributions give source rpms for their kernel among other things. thus for your mandrake install, you'll install the source rpm for the kernel sources, then cd/usr/src/linux (or wherever they install to) and make menuconfig to read about all the options and configurations available for your distro. the acpi codes (and most stuff in the kernel in general ) are going to be distro agnostic, so using gentoo i don't think alowed you to find the correct codes. other than the above average knowledge of the distro community.
wouldn't a true conservative be voting for libertarian Mike Badnarik?
anyway, the two main parties are both going to be maintaining a budget of similar levels. one party historically invests more of that budget into the internal infrastructure of the country, while the other party typically invests a much larger portion of the budget on defending americans abroad. me personally, i make sure i feed my kids before i help out the neighbor by shoveling their snow.
your public transportation is extremely cheep and easy to use.
the point is get rid of the smelly folks on the streets. NY managed to get cleaned up.
i don't really think the local governement should get into public wireless in a city like san fran. i'm sure verizon will do a much better job at providing national coverage.
i don't even think the mayor there said he wants to see a government controlled service, just that there should be free wireless coverage across the city.
my point regarding fire/police services was extreme, but it goes along with the point that the local governments should not be involved in areas that businesses could compete with (your original point). this leaves the local government back to their "core compentencies" of making laws and enforcing the laws (mayor and friends, sherrif and friends).
um, i was out in sf this year for the java one converence. i got a week long muni pass for about 12$. i was able to go anywhere in the city very conveniently.
my elementary kids were along for the ride, and they'll never ever forget the loads upon loads of filthy, smelly, trashy people constantly asking if we could spare some change. manhantan was much nicer in this respect than san francisco.
local governments should be in the business of providing services that benefit the overall community as a whole. by a local government engaging in police/fire businesses, aren't they competing (or removing the market for) private enterprise?
it's actually (no equals sign or quotes) wrapped around form and html tags. unfortunately i can't test it out much as my trend micro scanner deletes a file as soon as i save it.
ok, etc-update. etc configurations should be "smart" enough that they can auto update files that portage installed, and leave for me to merge in files that i have touched. when i update xorg or kde, i have a ton of files to "etc-update" most of which aren't anything i have (or should haev) a freaking clue what they do.
i have emerge working, i have written some ebuilds in the past. my original point before all this fucking chit chat was that the software needs to be better. it needs to be higher quality. it's not high quality because it's buggy and breaks often.
it seems like the old hard core gentoo filosofy is still around these days. gentoo being a "hard code" distro all about being able to customize the distro and all the stuf that's getting built. gentoo has many strenghts, a strong community and good documentation for the most part. but its weakness is that l33t crowd mentality that creeps up from time to time. there are bugs and genaral flaws in the system that need addressed.
skill, skill to type configure, make, make install? yep that's skill for certain. it must take real skill to completely fuck up lots of other people's systems by messing up the sequence of configure, make and make install.
i'll keep the/etc updating maddness for another day.
it doesn't take skill to install software on a linux machine, it takes time, often wasted time trying to figgure out some solution you'll never remember in 3 days anyway.
kinda like how the contraband cd from velvet revolver was made to not be simple and easy to play (and rip) by default in windows? that's good enough right? now check out kazza, morpheous, or whatever the latest file sharing network everyone is using these days. i'll bet the entire album is easily available. good enough.
when you're a big company like this, and you're displaying in a digital form a copyrighted work, someone's going to quickly figure out how to pull an entire book and package it to put it on the filesharing applications.
obviously you're not a gentooer, it says higher quality.
emerge

you only need to validate the functionality in the method itself is working. from your sig it seems you're using java. junit with an embedded axion database allows for extremely easy testing of a method that uses a database connection for its work. of course, you have to setup your test by creating a table, and inserting any base data. getting that basic framework is as simple as writing the method itself. you'll probably double your time in writing the actual method. i'd think the return on that investment is "priceless".

sounds like an intersting idea. a little guide would be nice.
let me take a stab.

you mean like the mondo folks? do they have a license on microsoft's patent on the .net api?
