You have noticed this trend also. I remeber having game on audio tape when I was using a Timex Sinclair 8000. Then my first pc had 20 meg hd's, those cost $300+ a peice at the time. But on that 20 megs I could fit alot of things on it.. Now 20 megs holds about 4 mp3 files or a bunch of sciptz kidz files (which I do I have a couple of these to do security for freinds, using their files to foil them). Now I have a 1.2 gig and a 2.1 gig in my box and I find that my 1.2 is 90% full and I barely have anything on it! I think i'm going to get a 12gig drive when I build my new box in couple of months. Programmers should learn how to optimize the size of their code w/ out compromising the speed or the operation of it.
Well I thought it was originally call LiNUX and the whole point of LiNUX was based on GNU when it first started.. But Linus named it LiNUX and there for it should stay named LiNUX, but w/ the distro name in front it, ie Redhat LiNUX. Until someone comes up with a distro called GNU...
It can be done.. It would proable be the size of an old lugable.. But it could be done.. It would be cool to come out w/ this. Project idea! All you would need is a nice sized case w/ keyboard built, mb with a riser board, small power supply, and the extras..
There is another new distro project on it's way. It's look really promising compaired to alot of the distro's I have seen. There are looking for people to join up and help out any way you can. Laetos Project.
The future of Linux as I see it: I feel that once everyone's distro starts being the same becuase Linux will be made were it can be fully used and drivers will be available from every vender and almost easy enough for the average home user can use it, the commericialism is going to start hurting the small person that can't afford to advertize. When this happens, there might be only one or two distros which you could buy at your local software store (i.e. Software Etc.) and only one or two really cheap versions on the net becuase it will become mostly the same. This is IMO.
Felix, Well you have to understand that alot of my posts are just all fun and games. I'm just out to make people laugh.. But this guy was just harping on a community which made the world livable today. I'm surprized that ZD net actually allow to post. ZD is not one my list of 'stupid media'. They allow these guys to slam us, but they wont allows us, the/. people, to let the people see what we really had to say. I find it very unprofessional. I don't claim to the most knowalagable person here, I do post replies w/ out thinking, I just speak my mind, which make me seem quite stupid at time. But I also like to bitch alot, specially when i'm posting on here, becuase i'm at work and I do phone support (which hopefully I can get out of that and get some where else this company), and it's just all the simplist calls that people should know what to do just tick me off. Instead of taken those issue and bich about them, I find something more meaningful to whine about and reduce my strees..
Linux dead in 5 years.. I say that would be a bad statment.. I think it will be on at least 1/2 the pc in the world.. With improvements I have seen in the past 3 years, I truely feel that alot more people will convert over, even the people that don't know what it is at the moment... (after 5 years watch this come back and hit me in the face like a cream pie, mmmm pie mmmm)
The logical answer would be, no they couldn't do anything about asking that question. The real answer is that they would a.)spy on you 24/7 or b.)bust you asap and put on trial for being a suspected drugie and sell off all your items before trail (which is illegal according the constitution.)
I hate that.. Some of the Canadians bitching about US and saying how much better they are. The fact is that, the US is their platform of economy... It would be funny to start doing what we do to mexico and japan as far as borders and trade..
I'm 19 and from Silicon Valley. So I have seen all this cencorship stuff going on when I moved to Texas. SV is so uncencored it's lovable. But Tipper was the one who got them off the ground with the publicity. One of these days the will all die off, but untill then i'm going to make fun of them.

Fat32 is good idea, but they need to make the chunks about 1k, instead of 4k (if I remember correctly).

I think Clear one piece computer has been an idea for awhile.

Well my answer would be to have a seperate proccessor just for that.. Maybe a 128 bit 300mhz risc chip.
