I don't know if the QPL is considered Open Source (...), but the QPL is listed under free software licenses (although GPL-incompatible) on the various licenses list at the GNU website
The distance between Uppsala (where ftp.sunet.se is located) and Ludvika (40 km south of Borlänge) is around 165 km, so I guess the distance between Borlänge and Uppsala is around 185-190 km.
Many people believe ftp.sunet.se is located in Stockholm, which can explain some of the errors in calculating the distance between Borlänge and ftp.sunet.se

Maybe Mozilla render HTML and XML better than Konqueror, I don't know.
But also have in mind the number of developers contributing to Mozilla vs. Konqueror. And certainly the number of PAID developers on Mozilla vs. Konqueror...And how much venture capital is burried down in Mozilla vs. Konqueror?
Just questions...

I agree with your comments about Windows.
You cannot do much with a standard Windows installation. Like using/browsing.zip files,.pdf files and more.
The better parts of Windows is not made by MS, it's done by third parts enhancing the desktop like WinZip, WinAMP, ICQ, Acrobat Reader, ACDSee Image Viewer and so on.
Personally, I think a Windows desktop without those programs/utilities is quite a useless desktop. For my needs anyway.

Since some file systems fits some purposes better than other file systems, and other file systems fits other purposes better than some file systems, what criterias do you have to consider when selecting a file system from another?
Good comment, but I will extend it a bit.
The metaphore of computers (PCs) as today will probably be revided. We have come to the point that we don't need the fastest computers available. Nowadays (and in the future), the focus will be on other features than speed when buying a new computer.
Some of these features are smaller computers, energy-saving computers and silent computers.
People (especially whose who use computers in their profession) are tired of large computers which makes their office room hot and noisy. I'm one of them.
The difference between TheKompany and Ximian/Eazel is that theKompany doesn't have any affect on the KDE core team and the KDE core development.
theKompany is just a software company. Don't use their software if you don't want to (and I think many KDE users don't use their software).
But nowadays, if you are a GNOME user, practically, you cannot just ignore the work of Ximian and Eazel (in the way you can ignore theKompany). They have taken over the GNOME development with venture capital. VC, which source now seems to drain.
I remember some weeks ago when Gnome 1.0 was released. Almost everyone (on this debate forum) was chanting about how great the new free GUI is, and how bad KDE was, because they're not using a "free" toolkit. Everyone was praising RMS and his philosophies.
But that doesn't seem to be as important as it was some weeks ago. Now RMS is a pathetic moron who just want to have some attention.
At least KDE has much better ergonomics than any other system I've seen. Gnome + Enlightenment + a alot of Eterms are sure eyecandy, but it's definately not ergonomic to use an Eterm with a flashy background. The eye has to adjust itself all the time depending on the backgroud color on _the_ spot which the eye is looking. And eterms does have a lot of different background colors.
The same with Enlightenment. It surely is eyecandy , but it's not eyefriendly. The graphics of the important buttons (like minimize) are not sharp enough, and to small (probably configurable though).
For me it feels like KDE is made for everyone, Gnome for young, experienced users who don't have so much problems with the eyes yet.
And yes, Win has a good GUI.

Why would they? Business is business, not charity. Why would companies donate money for software, which their competitor can use for free? Of course you have the support thing, but...
That's the sad reality. Capitalism isn't the most efficent way to develop technology.

Can you provide a exact link to the start of this flamewar? I guess you can read it at lists.kde.org (or maybe not?).

Does anyone have any experience with Black Lab Linux? Is it faster than YellowDog Linux or Debian Potato 2.2 PPC?
Will Corel also provide a Mozilla/Qt for Windows?
(Maybe the answer to this question was in the mail (but I couldn't find it).
What about XFree86? No licensing problems there linking GPL code to the XFree86 code?
BTW how exactly do we pronounce Linux ?? Linux or 'Lenux' ??

Right!
Anyone who say they don't use KDE because of the Qt license should look at the XFree86 license...

Why don't you have an own opinion? Or is this guy RMS some kind of a god or what?
