Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you not like about DVD. Divx I understand, but what consumer format can hold a candle to the beauty that is DVD?
Why is that so many Linux users seem to hate Apple all of a sudden? Could it be the rumors that MacOS X Server running Apache is faster than Linux. Hmm... Maybe someone is feeling threatened.
Rumor has it that MacOS X Server is faster than Linux. I don't know if I believe that, but at the very least, it sounds comparable.
As for working, I've worked on both the Windows and Mac platforms with programs such as Photoshop and Director. I can get my work done a lot faster on a Mac.
I am a Mac user that was looking into learning more about Linux. I would never completely abandon the Mac because there are programs I can't do without (Photoshop rules), however, I wanted to learn more about Linux as a possible server solution.
If this is the support community that Linux users are so proud of, I'm sorry, but it certainly takes some of the steam out of my excitment for this platform.
I always thought/. was a place where one could find intelligent conversation about a topic. Instead, it is a place where most people are looking to start a flame war. I was hoping that/. was above the usenet, but I guess I haven't been here long enough to see that this isn't so. If you don't like Apple,/. has these neat little preferences that allow you to disable any Apple related news.
I enjoy watching Apple's climb back out of the grave that Wall Street prematurely dug. Hopefully the situation in Mexico will not be a major set back for the company.
Even though this is joke, Apple (supposedly) is experimenting with wind-up power for educational laptops. The idea is to get a machine to run for 8 hours without needing to recharge the battery. You could twist a crank and recharge the battery with every revolution.
It's only the first episode. You really should give it more time before pass such a harsh judgement on it. I think it has potential. It wasn't nearly as good as most Simpsons episodes, but it could be.
Personally, I think Bender is cool. The part where he says something like, "Lets celebrate," pulls out three beers, pauses for a second (making you think he's going to hand them out to his new friends), and proceeds to chug all three bottles. That was funny!
I love the Simpsons, so I'm sure Futurama will be equally good. I can't wait!

It's not nearly as funny as it was when Joel was in it, but it still has some entertainment quality to it. I would hate to see it go. They should at least play re-runs.
I would kill to see "Operation Double 007" again! That was the was best.
I don't know much about this stuff (and should probably just shut up), but if Linux is open source, can't you use that code for anything or is it property of the Linux distributor (or some other Linux body)?
I'm working on compiling Coca Cola(TM) into a chocolate bar. It doesn't quite fall under the Open Softdrink Initiative, but it is Open Recipe compliant.
Imagine the sugar rush contained in that convenient little bar.
I really don't think Apple is trying to compete with Linux. Apple realizes that Open Source is going to be the name of the game (if it isn't already). They may be behind Linux, but they are ahead of Microsoft. They just stuck a toe in the water to see if it's warm.

The word "inexpesive" comes to mind...

I think most people got out hand.
Remember, if everyone starts using Linux, you're no longer special.

Pretty goofy, huh?
But kids might get a kick out of it.

Rape doesn't always involve penetration. Just cutting it off won't deter an offender away from raping somebody.
Lock'em up forever seems like a good idea.

I would suspect that death is easier than going through life after being put through something as truamatic as rape.

I thought it was funnier with Fry just calling Nimoy "Spock." If Nimoy had responded, I just don't think it would be as funny.

You could hook'em up to a network and have them working on a distributed.net project when they're not busy cooking pizza.

Wow is that true?!

Right now they seem to have dropped plans to support a PC version. Some rumors say there might still be one, but not for awhile.

I've heard there are night and day differences in speed from DR2 and the final release. I could be wrong though.

If Apple has no relevance to the industry, then why are you wasting your time talking about it?
Fanatics are an interesting bunch.
