Interesting. I still, personally, would prefer the contact chip though. I dont see the real advantage of using a contactless one. Other than, 'ohh, wireless, that is cool' factor.

The NFC credit cards in the US do nothing more than the magnetic strip can do, as far as I understand (I have a couple, that I microwaved as soon as I received them). There is not advantage to it, than say swiping your card.

I know it is good enough to power the radio circuits (like an RFID chip), but it is good enough to perform encryption on chip? The EU chip card, is pretty much a chip that uses the chip reader to communicated with the bank.

How do plan to power the NFC chips? Batteries? Or are you expecting cell phones to become the new credit cards? I would rather steal power from the chip reader, in which case it is easier to use an EU chip card. A few feet difference doesnt make much of a difference to me.

Ah, so the person who accessed an open wifi point without the permission of the owner was arrested, on complaint of the owner. Running an open wifi point in itself is not illegal (the claim in your original post), neither is accessing one. The simple solution is to clearly name you wifi access point to announce that the owner permits other users to access their wifi, and simple terms of service page, before the clients access the general internet.

Nope, it is optional. You cannot use the play store without associating the phone with the Google Account though. You could use Amazon App Store, which has most apps. You could side load apps (just copy them to the system apps folder), if you have the apk and you are rooted (I dont know of a reliable site, where you can get the apk file from though)

The point is GGGP was right to refer to the "US Govt", and you were wrong to limit the clause to Obama & Supporters (Well, if you hand included Bush & Supporters and McCain & Supporters and Romney & Supporters (watch the final debate), you would have been right).
