I think we established earlier that comparing prices without comparing quality. What we need it a system like there is in the EU for loads of food items. For example, jam <translation lang = US>jelly</translation> is called "Extra jam" if it has more than a certain percentage of fruit. What we want is the EU to spend some of our taxes on developing a similar system for weed, based on the THC levels of the produce. Fairness and transparency at last for the weed-smoking public. It could then be adopted as an ISO standard, and the traveller need never be in the dark again when it comes to puchasing their favourite herbs in foreign lands.
An ounce of marijuana costs more than an ounce of pure gold.
You need a new dealer. Or let us know who you get your gold from. Gold finished last week at $268 an ounce. Good weed finished last week at around £160 ($235) an ounce. Solids are around half that.
This is a bit of a misrepresentation. Take a look at a comparison of gun crime in our two countries. Yes, we do have problems with guns in the UK, in common with virtually every country in the world, but it is on a scale that is incomparably small next to US figures. This would seem to be largely due to cultural differences. A US citizen is likely to be a supporter of the second amendment, a believer in the use of guns to protect the person, and in hunting for sport. Contrary to some stereotypes, hunting is very much a minority persuit in the UK, as is target shooting, and under British law, there is NO OTHER legitimate reason to own a gun. Hence: no reason for handguns, which are only designed for killing people. Self-defense is no defense when it comes to guns. Defend yourself with a gun, and even if you dont fire it you will be in prison for a long time. Fire it, and you will probably be dead. Where firearms are suspected, British police will call the local Armed Response Vehicle. These are units with highly trained police officers that patrol nationwide, armed mainly with semi-automatic weapons. You might have seen them partolling UK airports. They always shoot to kill, aiming for the torso. It doesn't happen often, as gun crime is relatively low, but occasionally people are shot by them.
> Surely you mean Britain?
Uh, no. Its actually a Euro classification. You could just at easily say 'the PS2 is classified as a computer in tunbridge-wells' as tunbridge wells, england, britain and all points inbetween just follow EU law on these import issues.
This does seem suprising. It seems that they take powerpc seriously (especially if they've bought four). You would think they'd take into account the fact that all the top end Macs are dual-processor. This will remain the case until Motorola and IBM emerge from the Great Clock Freeze and get past 500MHz.
Except for little matters like the largest pharma companies being british, german, etc. Oh yes, and most of 'US' co Pfizer's innovations being made in kent, uk - incl Viagra.

Oh come on, you'll have to do better than that. One word - helsinki. Another - Symbian
IE5 for mac is certainly the best browser on any platform at the moment, though once iCab goes v1, and supports CSS, ICMAscript and stuff, it' should take the crown, IMHO.
Actually, if you move MS Framework, MS Internet Library and MS Font Embed to the IE Folder, you can safely remove all MS extensions from your extension folder. You can then drag and drop the folder to another computer and it'll run fine. Just make sure that if you have any other MS apps (why would you want that, I can't think), you do a similar thing to them. MacOSX doesn't use extensions, it has packages, which means that an application is actually a folder full of stuff with the extension.app, which the UI shows as an application. These (AFAIK) can be drag-and-drop installed too.
Quark, Adobe, Macromedia and MANY others have said that they will support OSX. Of course they will - they dont want to lose their mac user base. Mac software is lucrative - Microsoft Office for mac is one of their most profitable products. See this page for more.

I don't know about other modes, but GSM is fully aware of your location: in cities this can be as accurate as a dozen feet or so. A mobile sends out a signal whenever its on, leting the network know which cell you are in, so that your calls can be sent to the right one. Some networks (vodafone for example) actually display your location on the phone. In the UK this would be your postcode. Very useful - I wish orange did it. The WAP specs do allow for this information to be used to deliver location-specific information, but this doesn't seem to be much used. Of course there is the other side to this. YOU ARE BEING FOLLOWED. There have been several occasions (the Mardi Gra bomber was one, I think) where the police have caught a suspect by following the phone comapny's network logs.

I think Apple have really made a miscalculation with their refusal to port QuickTime to *nix. I do have a bias - Im a QTVR developer, but they must surely see the opportunity open to them here. It would be a major boost to their battle with WMP etc. I think that just looking at the market share of each platform is too simplistic . It must be considered that the people making the initial decisions on what format a particular project will use - the developers - are far more likely to be using *nix than the population as a whole, and will therefore prefer to choose a format that supports their platform. So, Jobs, fight the good fight and port to Linux and BSD (or even darwin:) and help give M$WMP's market share a kicking.
Umm... Why did this get posted in the "Slashdot.org" meta-category?

I certainly hope so. Saint Steve of Cupertino is the iGod of computing. And don't argue.
In Mac OS, you can command-click a URL in any text to open it.
Or more accurately, a Stephen Hawking action figure would drive slowly into some serious ass. AIn't no kickin' goin' on.

Nah, they're japanese remember. Export restrictions would mean the US would get the crappy ones. Like crypto in the RSA patent days.

- How would Christ benefit from me putting my tongue in someone's mouth
- How does me putting my tongue in someone's mouth make you feel.
- Huh?
- What about your tongue in someones mouth?

(inspiration)Charged for SMS? They'd be lucky to have a network that supports SMS, let alone have the luxury of choosing price plans for it.
In the UK too, I reckon. See this story
