I would advertise the domain on Slashdot. It has a far higher readership than other any site that might show up in something like a Google search for "How to sell a domain name", and its far more likely to get posted by the moderators compared to other sites like kuro5hin or digg.
I agree 100%. People praise Antec, but from my experience they consistantly fall short of their performance and have a comparable lifespan to, say, a $20 no-name PSU.
Nice advertisement for VMWare, but Xen destroies VMWare in every benchmark I've yet seen. I understand they are taking different approaches, but with new CPUs supporting Intel's VT VMWare's OS advantage suddenly disappers. It should be a huge red flashing sign since VMWare's license doesn't allow benchmarks to be published. This page shows VMWare can compete in some places, but is pathetic in others.
I don't know what makes them claim ESX server so much better than Xen, maybe they are trying to say VMWare is more stable? Because from my testing, Xen puts VMWare in the dust.
I don't see how people gripe at Microsoft's update process.
As far as desktop PCs go, it is considerably better. For example, I would have never known there was a new version of Mozilla out likely except for reading this. I have to manually grab a copy of the updated version on all my computers and install it instead of having windows prompt me saying it has downloaded the recent updates and is ready to install them.
In fact I kind of have trouble reccomending Mozilla to others because of this now that I think about it.
One thing that always irritates me is Mozilla doesn't support scrolling with mouse3 unless you download an extention. It's something I've grown used to because I don't have a mouse wheel, and I'm too lazy to buy a new mouse.
Theres some brand of bottled water here (I think it's Dasani) that comes from the same place our tap water does. I thought that was kinda ironic people still buy the stuff and claim our local water is trash.
why even bother doing that? I think TV is a waste of my time.
I love computers because I can get what I'm looking for and I have control over what I'm seeing. You're forced to watch whatever is on at the given time on TV unless you have a tivo (which I admit I wish I had)
I have to wonder what this fellow is into that is the current high bidder.
According to his feedback he purchased a 19" roulette wheel, later 2 microsoft t-shirts, a microsoft training guide, then microsoft small business server, and finally a 1979 Porche. He's now bidding on a 1-million dollar aircraft.
It just makes me wonder what this fellow is up to... and if I should be doing it too!
Playing devil's advocate to an extent, yet I also believe this to another...
You say your pleasure of shooting holes in paper is worth others dieing out there? Are you saying that if gun laws were restricted more, there wouldn't be a SINGLE change in the number of deaths from guns?
Even if it's just a difference of one person, do you think making holes in paper is worth his/her life?
with 4.x I had never had a problem with (desktop) applications installing wrong, but with 5.x I couldn't get gnome installed correctly. the dependencies just didn't match up.
just heads up that you might have trouble with 5.x ports.
I have to wonder how their laptops get power...
from the looks of the photos it wasn't a whole lot of camping in the wilderness.. at least by my standards an extention cord running into your tent doesnt count
Completly offtopic but I was referring to the number of slashdot readers in general. I don't recall where I saw it posted, or when was the list time, but faintly remember that the majority of visitors were using windows.
Of course, I care not in the end. You are probably right about mac users tho.
Actually, the majority are windows users. Have been for quite some time.
I am personally viewing this in windows, albeit with blackbox as my shell and firebird as my browser. Simply because I have to run certian programs, and it happens to work and be easier.
No. This is the same thing as 'the locked door' analogy. If it is advertised as a public, free, hotspot- you can assume it is safe to use it. But otherwise it isn't.
If I lock my door on my house, you can still easily get in. That doesn't mean me not locking (or forgetting to lock) the door is inviting you to come in.
the vast majority of websites are running dynamic content. be it as simple as random ads displayed or an entire forum, they are very important to the website still.
You could take a snapshot of the website, but it wouldn't be a fair representation of what you should really be seeing on the webpage.
It'd be nice if there was an efficient way of sharing files in the local network first... i'm sure 4 dorms have about everything you can find on kazaa, on a much better network.
why would MS lose money? They can easily make money nowadays on that little box - it's cheap hardware today. And it IS easy to find an old p200 or somthing like that for a router. You must not be looking hard.

Would these kids be 'cooler' if they were selling cocaine or heroin on the same street instead?
Yes.
have you not used IE lately?
It already does this.
wow, stupid mod and stupid poster.

Given the stuffs filtered, but give me a break.

TV would do MUCH better if it was all on-demand.

why would I watch someone play basketball/football when I can just go play myself? It's very boring watching...
I don't see your point.

Yeah, right.

when did dos not come with it? I never recall not having it, altho that was around dos 5.3 or a bit earlier.
You'd be really upset if windows didn't come with scandisk.
In the US, it's quite illegal to rebroadcast media. I don't see how this is any different.
