I don't know about the rest of the rant but "By the way, Amazon was coming here without all this money anyway" this part is true, other places offered more incentives but amazon moved there because of talent, so yeah they didn't need to throw the money.
I personally specialize at stirring the pile, its been a good career and will likely continue. Much interesting question is what happens to the population as the necessity of cheap labor is lost.
I agree, my hope is that we continue supporting experimental science, even if it sounds out there. I feel like the whole "cold fusion" experiments fall in that category as well. What i do not like are the institutionalized zealots of organized science, the wholesale naysayers, the protectionist endowment collectors.
so in 50 years you will be perfectly fine with this science... or just that you will be dead and the next gen would be just less prejudiced to new theories.
personally i don't care much about TSLA as a business, and Elon not at all. i liked their original roadster, but it was way out of my range back in the day. what TSLA has done, is moved the needle on battery tech. without TSLA pushing the buttons, chances are battery powered vehicles would not be a priority of all manufacturers at all. not just the car business, but rather also pushed for better battery tech. credit where credit is due, heck i consider TSLA basically a giant gofundme campaign, a lot of people "invested" on the promise of clean cars. pretty much all of them don't care if the company is making money or not. heck they probably prefer if at the end its a zero sum game from a profit making and environment destroying point of view.
in the post truth world, its creditable that they attempted to actually find a data source, that they actually might have even used to support their conclusions.

i think i enjoyed them more from a cultural reference point. its interesting to see how a "typical" Chinese would relate to events that i personally would see very differently. I really enjoyed the books for their sci-fi content as well.
you can't sue, if it was a govt mandate... two things 1.O those poor manufacturer's they didn't even want to implement the tech which was obviously not ready as shown in tests after tests. 2. the EULA says the driver is still responsible in case of crash.
its interesting to see a republican senator accepting science and technology, being left behind on healthcare and education by the same "rivals" seems to be ok though.

i would just call that science. I wish the current atmosphere of divisive science wasn't so hateful to ideas that contradict their funding source.
