So you don't back up your comments with data either?
You seem to not know anything about the inner workings of Android, but you feel confident enough to assume that every Android app can access this tracking data. Then you go and claim that Android is potentially less secure because you have a belief that Android apps can do something that may or may not be possible.
It's not like people are making up these claims to smear Android, they are just pointing out the facts - something Android fanatics seem curiously unwilling to discuss.
You are not pointing out any facts at all (or have any references to facts). You seem to be defensively reacting because someone has insulted the device that you like. These are just phones after all. Pick your poison and use it, but don't get silly when someone talks smack about it, and don't write comments all half-cocked like this.
no. after antihydrogen the next stable antimatter nucleus is antihelium which TFA is about. After antihelium the next stable antimatter nucleus would be antilithium.
I agree with your concept of trying to reduce demand for new child porn material, but there is at least one major flaw with it. The children in these photos are real people, many of which are still alive today. If I were one of those abused children, I would be rather upset at the prospect of pervs continuing to view images of a traumatic time. Even worse would be the idea that the state was condoning and actively distributing these images.
The police and feds do need to focus more on the creators of this content and less on the trickle down viewers, but I seriously doubt openly allowing viewing of this content is a good idea.
Considering what the police believed they were busting in the house about, if there was a child present the guy probably would have wound up with worse cuts and bruises. These ICE guys just don't care what they are doing. To the police state they have the power of right behind them.
Does anyone else feel that this sort of intense ratcheting up of displays of force only serves to drive real criminals further into secrecy. If real pedos believe the police might bust in their door at any time, they will probably just be more likely to encrypt all their data or have some sort of drive wipe on standby. Or perhaps they will get more violent in return.
No it is not good to be Apple. Apple is a mindless corporation. It doesn't have thoughts or feelings. It is most definitely good to be in charge of or on the board at Apple though.
Do you have any source that points to a direct correlation between iPad sales and lower PC sales or is that just an assumption of yours.
I'm sure there are a lot of people who want to upgrade to Win 7 or would prefer it if they did upgrade, but don't know it yet. The thing stopping these people from trying 7 is the outrageous cost of buying a license.
I can upgrade my Linux box regularly with new distros and keep it current with just an investment in time. My XP box will probably stay XP for a little longer until *I* stop supporting it and upgrade to Linux. I refuse to buy upgrade licenses for Windows as at some point you find yourself needing to do a fresh install of the OS and have to dig out a copy of Windows 98 to start the upgrade path from wherever you started. The full licenses are too much money for me to get as well, I'd rather get Ubuntu for no cost and buy some newer hardware.
I believe the parent was sarcastically referring to the idea that open source software may be abandoned without notice. Although in that case you could still fix bugs and improve it yourself as you'd have the source code.
You missed a big one in the Pacific Northwest, the Cascadia subduction zone. This could cause a megathrust quake that would be devastating to Portland, Seattle or Vancouver.
I also like to consider myself part of the US mainland and the Alaska Subduction zone extends well past the Aleutians to South central AK where I am at. Although, I fully understand that US mainland usually refers to the contiguous 48 states
CA has no risk of "falling" into the ocean. The faults there are all transform boundaries and slide horizontally against each other. Even if it were possible, do you think a seismic event of a scale that destroys a piece of continental plate the size of California would have no effects outside of that state? Can you imagine the size of the Tsunami that would head across the Pacific?
Yes, technically, inventing a new product doesn't require you to know how it works or why, but you are going to have a very long process of randomly trying different armor materials and probably never get anywhere useful if you have no scientific understanding of materials science or engineering know how to create enough of it in the right shape to test. We have long since moved past the low hanging fruit of invention. It's very difficult to just happen across or invent something better than already exists without serious knowledge of the existing state-of-the-art.
You raise a good point about flaming arrows being more effective at the ranges that the reflections began to raise the temperature. I think it's quite plausible that the "death ray" didn't work as we expect. It's possible that the combination of blinding light distracting the approaching vessels combined with some well placed flaming projectiles combined to be the seed of a myth that the reflected sun alone caused the fires. Or it's also possible that the distraction of the reflected light alone was enough of an advantage and it got translated through the years into a "death ray" setting fire to the ships.
We all know how well Wall Street values companies. I mean they got it so right 2 years ago with the entire banking industry. And we all know market cap directly relates to a companies operations right?
Apple Gross Profit previous 3 months - $10,298 million (reported on 12/25/10)
Microsoft Gross Profit previous 3 months - $15,120 million (reported on 12/31/10)
*I would have used annual numbers which were even more in MSFTs favor, but Google has different reporting months for annual data
So which is a better indication of a companies strength. What wall street investors will pay for its stock, or the gross profit the company makes?
There are musicians that feel the same way as you and are making music that you might enjoy. The trick is finding them hiding behind the noise of the mainstream music. Streaming services like Pandora or Last.fm help me find less popular music that I enjoy while letting me avoid the mas market pop garbage. I can't speak as to whether the music you might find is available on iTunes as I don't use it. Perhaps you should look beyond iTunes?
It sounds like you need to reassess what your definition of humanity is. Humanity is not intimately linked to post-industrial revolution technology. There are countless ideas, thoughts and accomplishments that occurred well before the 19th century. Are these not part of humanity?
Although artificial life wouldn't die of old age, it can still die from injuries or hostile environments. Bacteria and other microscopic organisms are highly adaptable. It is entirely likely that a strain could develop that excretes some sort of highly acidic or otherwise damaging chemical which would attack artificial life. It's possible that breaking down artificial life would serve as nutrients for microorganisms as well. There are just too many remarkably clever adaptations that have occurred in nature to not give it a fighting chance against a nanomachine that self replicates.
This isn't to say that there wouldn't be massive changes in existing species or mass extinctions, but I think natural life as a whole would survive.
I really don't know exactly how the app works, but there are two possibilities.
The app helps people "cure" other people from being gay. This is hostile and implies that being gay is wrong.
The app helps people "cure" themselves. This is just some self help foolishness to help someone along a path they are actively trying to follow then. Not hostile at all, as it is just helping people enact change in their lives that they are seeking out.
The second option is no different than someone getting an App to help lose weight, quit smoking, stop biting their fingernails, or any other behavioral modification.
First they came for the Porn Apps.
And I didn't speak out because that wasn't the battle, and, anyway, it's kinda overrated.
Then they came for the Right-Wing-Bigots.
And I didn't speak out because that wasn't the battle, and anyway, they kinda suck.
Then they came for the Jews.
And I didn't speak out because that wasn't the battle, and anyway, there's that whole Palestine thing...
Then they came for me.
And there was no one left to speak out for me.
Is banning a bigoted app from the Appstore remotely close to sitting idle and allowing the Holocaust to happen? The amount of re-purposing of this quote has frankly watered down its original meaning.
Censorship in the Appstore is not exactly a great thing, but I'm willing to give them a pass on it since it is their walled garden that they have built. Once they censored the first App, they have forced themselves to continue doing so or Apple as a company will be associated with any apps that are approved no matter how socially unacceptable they are. Apple will continue to censor apps like this to portray a favorable public image. This is not some higher ground stance. They simply feel that banning this app is better for future business than leaving it up.
Does anyone know how many episodes are in a season? It seems like they had a short run last year after coming back from the long hiatus. Just wondering if we will get even more goodness this go around.
It pretty much is the same AT&T. Southwestern Bell was one of the baby Bells from the original breakup. AT&T currently contains 10 of the original 22 bell companies and the original long distance division.
I agree that we can't base all design decisions on historical readings if we really want something to last. Surely there have been massive earthquakes that were not recorded by humans. The face of the Earth has changed massively throughout its history and I have to believe that was accompanied by earthquakes larger than we have measured yet. There is a necessary trade-off between how large a quake a structure can survive, how likely it is to see a larger quake, how expensive it is to build, and how long we expect the structure to be there.
But big sources of electricity are only good for big companies. For everybody else small sources of electricity have many advantages.
Maybe some day you, me, and everyone else can have a small clean safe electricity source connected to the buildings we live in. That is still a long way away from happening for most people. In the transition period between now and true adoption of a clean safe energy source with no waste production, we have no real choice about nuclear energy. It is a de facto requirement to keep world energy supplies running without building massive amounts of coal power plants. Is it 100% failsafe and clean? No, but its safer than other energy sources, on the whole, and cheaper too.
Cars are inherently dangerous. What did we do when levels of fatalities from car wrecks were unacceptable? We certainly didn't decide there were safer ways to get around and start walking and riding bikes. We added safety mechanisms, seat belts, air bags, energy absorbing crumple zones, ABS brakes, etc. and made our cars safer. Similarly, we must examine this disaster and make our nuclear technology better.
So you don't back up your comments with data either?

Agreed. This is #2 tops. No way it edges out for #1 nuclear disaster.
The more water you contaminate, the less contaminated the water is by volume.

Did this Alchemy show tell you how to make Gold from household ingredients too?
Unless the Killbots have hit their preset kill limit
