The sad part is, Yahoo used to be good. They had cool cooking shows, a fantastic sports section, and the email was actually one of the best available. Almost all of that is gone, taken away by this cost-cutting CEO who trashed what was left of the company.
With a minimal amount of effort, you can make Perl look as neat as any Python program. It's just the one-liners and regex stuff that gets crazy, or sloppy guys who could make Ruby impossible to figure.
I only program for fun, and Perl is easily the most fun I've had. You can do so many things, in so many ways. This is probably a negative for some commercial applications, but for having fun at home, it's wonderful.
We were in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, by ourselves, coming back from the Persian Gulf. I don't believe our ship had that antenna, it was an LST, and an old one, at that.
I'm not sure what the exact name of the system was, I wasn't on the bridge. I do know it wasn't working, so they had to check positions via the stars every damn night. You shouldn't call bullshit when you don't know what you are talking about.
On the 1991 cruise I was on when in the Navy, our ship's GPS went out. No way to fix it. We had to use compasses and star charts till we got to Pearl Harbor so it could be fixed. If the guys hadn't been trained for it, we'd have been screwed.
You're the one with poor reading comprehension. If the bastions of scientific literature are regularly seen to be publishing falsifified research, then all of their work is put into question, even the really well done/researched stuff.
When so many news stories about scientific papers being faked are published, it gives all the wackos ammo. They see this and start yelling about global warming and autism from innoculations. Blah.
Publishers, get your act together!
Actually, when it gets close to collapse, the people in power will just start a BIG war. It has worked numerous times in the past, and will work again in the future. (Not a nice way to look at history, but if history has proven anything, it's that the people in power care nothing for your average citizen).
Secretaries can make your life miserable, if you piss them off. Usually via office politics and gossip.
Then again, they also happily stab their "friends" in the back, so avoiding them is your best bet.
Not sure which release was worse, Gnome 3 or KDE 4. In both cases, the UI devs went insane and for some reason, all of the other devs followed their lead.
XFCE is way better than Gnome or KDE for home use, in my opinion. Others may not agree. It has been in limbo for a while, so hearing that it is finally getting an update is great news.

This just got the Secret Service very interested in these guys. I don't think it's going to end well for them.

Both. Oh yeah, and KDE.
It's in-house and they aren't trying to sell it. No reason not to use Linux.

Killing poachers should be completely legal. Heck, have safaris where rich guys can hunt them using high-powered elephant rifles.
Leftist wacko propaganda. Why is this on Slashdot?

Report them all you want. Not a single person in the NSA will EVER get into trouble. And that's the problem.
Bad part is, this would be middle of the newspaper, at best. Most people in the USA just don't care how badly our government is abusing everyone.
They almost always are. But notice how the summary conveniently left that fact out?
Because the US has some insane fascination with everyone being equal, no matter their own personal interests.
He deserves it. Amazing how many "unknown" people are so important to modern life, since they are usually never talked about.

Lol! Wish I had mod points.
Perl 6 is Design by Committee. Make of that what you will.
I think the chance of GRR Martin dying before the series is finished is up around 99.99999 %.
