  3. Standards in RADSL on What To Do With Old DSL Modems? · · Score: 5

There are three basic types of RADSL Line encapsulations.

    CAP (Carrier Aplitude Phased)
    DMT (Digital Multitone)
    G.Lite

For RADSL service to work the DSLAM that you are connecting to and the modem that you have need to be using the same line encoding. If you check with your local provider and find out what line encoding they are using, you should be able to use any modem that uses the same line encoding. CAP is going away but DMT and G.Lite are going to be here for a while.

    1. what if it breaks The one problem with these hybrid cars is that while you are getting the best of both worlds, gas and electric, you are also combining the worst of both worlds. As we all know a gas vehicle requires regular maintenance, so does an electric. The maintenance costs of a hybrid effectively double as compared to a gasoline engine car. There is also the factor of repair. I understand that the majority of manufacturers of electric vehicles have trained mechanics at the dealerships to work on them but in many cases the dealerships may be hard to locate if you are not in a medium to large city.

  5. What now? on Human Genome Project Believed Complete · · Score: 1

I'm a little worried about some of the outcomes of this. What if before you were born a doctor was able to tell your parents that you would be blond, 6'2, and suffer from a number of things that they have defined as defects. Would your parents want a child that has bad eye sight? Would they want to deal with your addictive personality? What if they had the ability to tweak your code before you were born and decide what to keep and what to bring back to the norm that they have decided is right. Don't get me wrong this is a huge achievement but the real question is what to do with this information now that it is available.

Voice recognition should be just fine for codeing. Once compilers are written for voice codeing we will be able to tell the compiler what whe want the program to do and it will translate it into code for us.
