Well, to be fair, one gigabyte of the ad is loaded from one server, a few gigs from another until all fifty some-odd different components of the perhaps 30 gigabyte ad are loaded, and then the 500K page proper will load. But don't be too hard on these web page coders.. it takes years to find a course that teaches the most inefficient way to write web adverts.. and they probably could not be able to find work elsewhere...
Unfortunately, I use a Mac, and ever since OSX 10.6, rebooting is the only thing that makes the problem go away. I NEVER had to reboot a mac to solve a problem until a couple years ago.. now there are so many issues that require it, i an stunned...
One more point to all those that say it ain't gonna happen, just because it "could" happen.. Fact is, it *is* happening, anywhere it could happen. A simple google search will bring up *thousands* of cases of contaminated water tables.
Addendum.. OK I read further, and got it.. the SAME person owned both the.org and.com and his definition of "free" was a quarter of a million dollars.. as in "Buy one get one *free*".. For a website the perp probably paid 30 buxcks for. Just goes to show nothing is what it seems on the face of it. Betcha Paul didn't have a quarter of a mill handy;-)
I have always been very impressed with his speeches.. He certainly talks a good game, and has some record of voting with what he believes. However, it *is* ones' actions that count.. he hasn't really done *anything*.. and on the face of it, his suing the owner of a domain that was already offered him for free is insane...
Apple software had traditionally been a blight on any windows PC... This goes right back to quicktime 3, and 4, which sucked up the resources in a bad way, and were terribly slow media programs. Apple still can't write efficient software..Mac users don't complain because they simply don't know..Here's a good example though.. I have a 2010 iMac with a core2 duo 2.8 gigahertz.. It came with Leopard and Snow leopard had just come out as well. Despite this machine being current, Slow Leopard runs so slow on it that windows can take up to 20 seconds to open, there is a 5 second delay on EVERY mouse action..everything feels "sticky" and the experience reminds my oh so much of my old days with a 386.. iTunes is even slower.. taking up to a half minute to recognize any input. Now on the same machine I also have Vista.. It is about 10 times as responsive, and is the snappiest copy of windows I have run, at least on this iMac. everything happens without delay, and it is a pleasure to use.. until the nasty Vista quirks raise their ugly head.. Even iTunes on windows is usable...
What's government for , anyways, except to regulate the market.. It won't do to dismantle the constitution and restrict human rights in the "Land of the Free", unless the PTBs also apply Soviet - style "corrections" to trade and commerce. I mean, after 200 years we're much smarter than the Founding Fathers...
Maybe Ben Franklin And George Washington should have thought things through instead of slap-dash following the highest moral code as a guide for the constitution.. Instead, they should have got blind drunk and read Karl Marx, and perhaps sought help from the beast himself, and implemented a good old form of communism instead . We'd have been much better equipped to have perpetual war, and could have invaded many more countries without a word of protest.. and instead of the expense of over a century of food stamps, we could have saved millions by just imprisoning dissenters and throwing away the key. Well, it's OK, they're finally getting it now....
It's a car..like the old saying goes " if it looks sounds and behaves like a rabbit it's a rabbit".. In fact it looks like a dune buggy, as the original article suggests.. although this "contraption" is actually registered as a.. wait for it.. a *parachute!*
Definitely.. get 'em all talking about CO2.. That way nobody'll notice all the methane hydrates all bubbling out.. Controlling CO2 emissions is something we can pat our selves on the ole back about, while feeling good an' cozy that we're "helping out".. Since all the methane coming out of the GOM, and the N. & S. poles, is something we *can't* control (well, we *could* ban dairy farmers and their farting cows;-).. besides, all that global "warming" is gonna push us into another ice age, so just think of all that good ole heating fuel we get to burn.. and the sheep famers who get to sell all that wool
What you're describing is why i used to like Apple, a few years ago, after OSX got refined.. Then some dick there thought he was SteveJobs 2.0, and they decided to introduce the "change for the sake of change" bit. Once Slow Leopard is completely unsupported (and it's already halfway there) looks like My main OS is gonna be Win7.. Too much emulation needed if I want to keep running all my fave applications to think of going to Linux...
So far, the developers I contacted for support have *already* all referred to Slow Leopard as an "obsolete" system.. and how long did M$ support XP?
I really miss when it was possible to get exited about new tech.. when I was learning the ropes from slashdotters like you (judging by your low member #) and Nathan with his impressive collection of Guis and OS's..*Everything* was good back then.. except Apple users;-). Seriously, I got ribbed an awful lot for my fascination with that "niche market" computer company.. Even after OSX appeared..
Everything was good natured though..
Until tech got into the hands of the non tech-savvy crowd..and the new "Apple Inc". has to carry some of the blame there. Then the genuine hatred seemed to appear, by those that self styled themselves as "geeks".. but do not have any of the the passion and/or tech skills .
I have also developed strong opinions also about certain OS's these days also, but those are based on solid facts.. I can tell you that I seriously doubt I will ever use a major OS again unless they stop this insane forced upgrade treadmill.. These are the companies that have removed the "fun factor" out of it all for me...
Actually, the spelling is correct.. Unfortunately for the nitpickers.. Usa, however, is in Japan, and had a strong manufacturing base in the 60s for products "Made in USA"
Dunno about Virgin mobile.. bought a phone that I couldn't activate due to a recall, and they promised me a better one as replacement.. instead I got a piece of junk in the mail worth about half of what I had paid for mine, and never got the upfront time that was supposed to be included in the box...
So.. it only took 300 years, to prove all the alchemists right..but in order to do so, we needed to make it look "scientific an all, eh?" So we now call "The Ether" the "Higgs-Boson"....
Like.. er.. wow...
Very Funny, and yup, Very True!. Thing is, the only people who would be interested haven't got 15 grand for a pinball table, and either already collect old machines, or have built one of those visual pinball tables, which are pretty damn hard to beat, especially with a good playfield monitor.. Also, EVERY pinball project has gone bust from lack of wider appeal.. leading me back to the original quote !;-)
I disagree..I think you have it entirely backwards..the human body is a marvel at surviving in an environment that is, essentially, toxic, by it's very nature.. Nature isn't "safe" at all.. The only reason that "natural" foods and drugs appear less harmful is because over the centuries our biology has adapted extensive countermeasures to r ender any toxins less harmful.... Take someone out of their naturtal environment,as happened 500 years ago to the spanish/indians, or the Africans and north americans, and exposure to these unfamiliar elements in "nature" *will* certainly kill, as did indeed happen...

I just found out *precisely* that ... First cold start in months.. and my backup drive was hosed...
One more point to all those that say it ain't gonna happen, just because it "could" happen.. Fact is, it *is* happening, anywhere it could happen. A simple google search will bring up *thousands* of cases of contaminated water tables.
Does this mean you'll be able to take a match to german beer in the future and have it explode, like American tap water?
Do those ones also stink as bad when you kill 'em? Is that in N America, if so i can hardly wait until they get here.. NOT

this is why the economy of the world is collapsing..
The 1000 richest americans could together wipe out the american debt of some 16 trilion dollars. That is scary rich..

Boy oh boy they must not want to scare anyone.. 2080 sound so.. "safe".. try 2020, if you want a more realistic date....

You just misspelt USA, USA, USA and USA.

Surely that should be 50 comments for common cents.. Oh i forgot.. we have outlawed common cents now.. only nickels from now on...
