Wow. I really am floored by your qurestion. "What's so bad about that?" Because the entire worldwide web only exists because of hyperlinks. Once they can be controlled, limited, or even just threatened with action, the internet as we know it will go back to the pre- Google days. OK, pre search engine, period, Google being a latecomer. Instead, then, unless you know the 12 character internet address of the information site you want, you're SOL... And never mind remembering and entering IPv6!
And, copyright is the preferred way of invoking censorship. Just by linking to any kind of information that the party wants kept hidden, they can stop you. Threaten you. Read, information blackout. Just like before there was ever the 'net, never mind the WWW.

Time to binge B5 for my respects. I would love to see a prequel called "B4", mostly because I like puns. Any remake would be able to examine closely the tropes of POV and "anyone can die" as they reimagine the series as a space epic. Game of Thrones in space is something that could potentially get a huge audience and would definitely be welcomed by all.

The prequel would likelly disappear before it got finished....

Yeah but you're Canadian, and we traditionally tend to adopt early and use better technology when we adopt because we don't ALWAYS go with the ultra lowest bidder, unlike the states. So here in Canada everything "just works". Case in point. Cable TV and internet. in 1980 I phoned in to a radio station in, I think Seattle.. "How are you possibly receiving us? the DJ asked bewilderdlty.. "Why, cable , of course". He was stunned. "You have CABLE ACCESS up there???" Why sure. Doesn't everybody?
And in1996 the biggest problem in having cable internet was that Windows had no drivers for it. Or so it seemed. I hadn't yet switched to Apple until the next year, so didn't know that they did...
I stopped using dialup in 1997. Some people in the states are STILL on it!

  22. It's called bribes, you moron. The U.S. dangles all this money and aid, and expects "cooperation" in future endeavours. Back room deals are a staple of "diplomacy"; it's the stuff you don't hear about on the news that you should be afraid of.

Of course, the countries don't "have to" accept it, but they often do, because it's free money, an easy avenue into the lucrative U.S. trade market, and sometimes they even provide the lube, so it don't hurt quite so much. The U.S. is sometimes "nice" in that regard.

"Sometimes they even provide the lube"
LOL! Thanks for that! I needed a laugh.. I was starting to get really frustrated reading about all this sickening behavior from the "Purveyors of denmocracy and freedoms".
