    You jsut have to buy smart. I recently got two HDTV TVs for a grand total of $600. I got a 30" and 32" Tubes from a discount store called Value City. I hadn't purchased a TV since '93 and when I saw these, I couldn't pass them up. Of course they were remanufactored, but I don't have a huge space for TV viewing. These fit hte bill perfectly, and since I live close to DC, I get tons of Broadcast channels from DC and Baltimore.

    You don't HAVE to spend big $$$ to get beautiful HDTV - IF you shop smart. Of course, if you want the Biggest/Best(Tube supposedly give the best HD picture though), it will cost you more. But isn't that true for most things?

    ... Cable companies start to offer something like this. I only watch about 10 channels, so why am I paying for the 120 others?

    Believe me, I won't be holding my breath for this to actually happen.

    Have you gone into the Political part of /. ? I have an turned tail as I quickly saw critical thinging as a laibility there. I did however notice that you do not object when there are glaring omissions in the left leaning articles cited there.

    Exactly. /. and it's posters lean so far left that in the RARE instance an article leans the other way, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

    This says more about those objecting to this article than it does about the article itself.

    Disconnect your brain and blame Bush for this as well. Information? Facts? And understanding of processes? We need none of these. Instead we should stifle businesses without knowing what's going on. Why? Because we will FEEL better about ourselves for doing our part. Who cares if our efforts actually do anything, we'll have a clearer conscious.

    Really? I seem to have ready MANY stories about how Bush is to blame for the increased number of storms because he doesn't give a hoot about global warming. But if you want to throw your allies under the bus, then go right ahead. I, on the other hand, will not pretend those stories and claims do not exist.

    So you claim to know me? I was raised by a depression era father. If there was a light left on, you got whacked. If you wasted food, you got whacked. If you wasted anythin, you got whacked.

    It drives my wife nuts when I am so anal about the lights being left on, wasted food, eetc...

    I also work from home and filled up my gas tank two weeks ago and still have 3/4 a tank left.

    So before you presume to know who I am and what I do, you might want to ask 1st.

    BTW - would you rather a health care system like Canada where you have to wait 18 months to see a doctor?

    This country isn't perfect, but it's the closest this planet has ever seen. And I'm trying my best to make it better as well.

    If It's too cold = Global Warming
    If It's a Monsoon = Global Warming
    If It's a drought = Global Warming
    If a part of a glacier breaks away from Antartica = Global Warming
    If the rest of Antartica is getting colder = Global Warming

    If you replace "Global Warming" up there with "It's Bush's fault" then you have the left's political platform as well.

    Come up with some REAL science that is not funded by politically oriented "science" organizations, then MAYBE there would be more support for change.

    Because the number of tiles damaged since the switch went up by 1000% From an average of 30 tiles damaged per trip up to an average of 300. Absolutes are amazing - If you find a tiny piece of foam missing in older flights, you can claim that there is no differencem since it happened back then as well. I perfer to dig deeper.

    ... that was directly resposible for killing the Columbia Astronauts and nearly killed the present set? Yep, gotta love putting the astronauts in sever risk to get rid of a couple pounds of freon. Stupidity reigns supreme when you deal with environmentalist.
