The idea that Linux is more secure than Windows is wrong. All software has bugs and exploits in it waiting to be discovered. It is because we use crappy software development languages like C.
Linux has had less exploits than Windows so far because less people use it therefore less virus writers make virus's for it. Same goes for Outlook/Office. Everyone uses those so there are heaps of exploits for them.
Diversity is more secure than lack of diversity - no single product is greatly more secure than any other.
Why not put real copy protection in Windows? I'm not talking media protection - I'm talking Windows itself.
The reality is that if the copy protection in Windows actually worked and people couldn't pirate Windows any more lots of people would suddenly realize they can't afford Windows and all the other MS software. If that was to happen, competing desktop sytems would have a chance.
All this talk from Ballmer about software piracy is just crap - he knows software piracy helps his company.
step 1. Install the cameras talking about safety step 2. Run them for a while and talk up the safety aspects step 3. Install face recognition software without telling the public step 4. Now they can check on the movements of particular people!
I was reading it for a while and kept coming across conclusions like 'obviously Windows has the tc0 advantage here'. It was when I read 'other than the toy OS MAC OS X' that I realized this is indeed a joke and not just a conversion to open office error!
To do so they would be admitting that Windows is on the way out and they'd never do that. While they have Windows they control everything else in the software market - they will never give that up under any circumstances.
The sad fact is that the desktop market is owned by Microsoft and this will never change. Corporations, who are ultimately the ones that decide on standards through their software purchasing habits, are more interested in playing it safe. Most corporate IT decision makers are more like politicians in their laziness and inaction - they're more interested in their pay packet and their reputation.
The smart corporations have seen the way MS react to the threat of a Linux deployment and will start their own. It is clear that the threat of a large scale Linux deployment is a way to reduce MS software licensing costs. Unfortunately most corporations do not follow through on the deployment.
In any case it's much easier to sack IT people in western countries and rehire them in India than to retrain your entire work force to use a different OS. I mean how many people who ring the help desk would even notice the difference?
A few years back I lost 3 drives in the space of 1 year - 2 were seacrates and 1 was western digital. All 3 were the shonky 1 year warranty drives. Since then I haven't touched those drives - I only buy the 3 year warranty ones and they work without problems. In my opinion '1 year warranty' is just a manufacturer euphemism for 'you'd be an idiot to buy this one'.
"If people in these corporations command more influence in congress, it is only because they care about it more."
This kind of policy is not decided upon by the majority of the people. Politicians will by default side with the ones who throw gobs of money at them - on this issue it's the record companies.
I don't get it. Why do you work so hard? 50 hours! Do yourself a favour and find a job that doesn't require that many hours or move to a country that doesn't expect it! (Like Australia)

Are you an idiot? The computer will just run virtually - at the service provider - with Windows! Why would anybody change?
Is this newsworthy? Check out the feature list. Examine in particular how many components have not even been started.

This is self serving BS. Mp3 is still the shit because so many devices can play it!
Don't start computer programming - it is a dying industry. Unless you want to work in India or China.
Why?
Just because some nutter right wing Christian party says something doesn't mean it's gonna happen folks! Ignore these twits! VOTE LATHAM!

Anything to get rid of Bush is good...
Why do people post junk like this? Nobody wants to read crap like this!
Some of them may lose their jobs if they can't continue to rip off their own state government...

Great work guys!
Mat
Bloody Howard (prime minister)! Vote for Latham at the ballot box!
Use stored procs when you have complex queries like reports at least. Putting those large queries in your code just looks bad.
Man you gotta grow a sense of humour...
This rant takes the prize bro...

You gotta be nuts to go up in a plane that has only 1 engine... How many of those things do you hear fall out of the sky on the news every week?

After the last movie, I can't wait to see this one... (NOT!!!!) Star trek movies are now trash and do not even deserve a download.

"we should be dedicated staff who desire to be responsive and should do what it takes to make that happen"
So they want to make money out of your support but they're not willing to pay you for it? Time to find a new job.
This thing comes from Israel - meaning it was designed to make killing Palestinians easier.
